Default Am I a Collector?

Do I qualify as a Beatles vinyl collector if I bought the albums new when they were released, going back to "Meet the Beatles"?

BTW, they are all still in almost mint condition.

First LP I ever bought in 1967, with my own hard-earned cash, was this:
IMG_0143.JPG

And yes, that's a pic of my personal copy. It's seen a lot of playing and it shows, but the vinyl is still failry good. Not to worry though, I have a few other copies that are VG+ to NM.

very impressive! how much did that cost you back in 1967? must have been very cheap for how much they sell these records now! but then again, the value of money was different then. What is the most you have paid for a record?

Yes I am, recently purchased Please Please Me and Meet The Beatles, 80's reissues in mono at a record store in Notting Hill, after visiting Abbey Road

There are many collectors who buy special editions or pressings that are OOP or are known for their quality. I am not one of those collectors. I have always purchased LP's for the music first. You see, before I am a record collector, I am a music fan and this is what drives me to buy ever more vinyl. I will buy some recordings that appeal to me and some to complete collections, but on the whole...I just love buying records. LOL!

I'm with John.

I hope EMI gets the vinyl box sets out before going bankrupt.

Still haven't heard any tidbits of info on a release, and it's driving me crazy! I'm itching to get my hands on this!

You should post a pic ryan!

Here's a pic of where I keep mine, and there is way more! I'll get another unit like this at some point this year, but I can't decide where to put it.

The unit is an Expidit from Ikea...works perfectly!

I think they were a bunch of old farts from the late 50's and early 60's that had some minor success due to their mop-cut hairstyles, but I'm not sure!

Bubblegum pop from the sixties. All derivative love longs, cutesy melodies and no substance

When Ringo Starr played the Conductor on "Thomas the Tank Engine", a British magazine sent a 20 something young lady to interview him and write a feature article.

During the course of her interview she asked: "Mr. Starr, what did you do before starring in "Thomas the Tank Engine?"

Without missing a beat (pun intended), Ringo answered: "Oh, I was a drummer in a rock and roll band."
