Default Ordering a PS3 from Amazon.

My fattie died recently and no store in my area has any PS3s for some reason. Im thinking about getting one from Amazon. Their shipping time says 2 to 4 weeks. Ive oredered plenty of Blus and games from Amazon but never a console. So has anyone bought their PS3 from Amazon? If so how was your experience with shipping time, condition, etc?

It probably says 2-4 weeks because of the current shortage. Amazon seems to always overestimate shipping and delivery dates just to be on the safe side. When I bought my PS3 I received it quick and in perfect condition. They put a lot of packing material into the box.

Yeah place the order and you'll probably get it sooner than that.

Unless you want to drive around town and look for one.

I've ordered several peices of electronics from Amazon, and they've all arrived without any problems. They'll typically pack the manufacturer's box inside a bigger box with padding. In-stock items were always shipped-out within a couple days. Amazon is an A-1 outfit.

You might want to buy it locally to ensure you get one of the systems with the new hardware. Read this thread for details:

I ordered one for my nephew a couple of months ago and there was supposed to be a 1 month wait... the console shipped less than a week after I placed the order and got here in less than 2 days after shipping.

Agreed. There's no guarantee that they'll get the 21XX series.

I bought my fat 60GB model from Amazon about 3 years or so ago and it arrived without a hitch in a couple days.

Heck, I've ordered a fortune worth of electonics from Amazon over the years and never had a single problem.

Well guys I went ahead and oredered from Amazon. The delivery estimate is 5/27 to 6/3. Hopefully it shows up sooner than that. It says it is the newest version. So hopefully its the 2101 model. Thanx for all the advice.

I have been buying from Amazon since 1996, less then 1 year after I first got online. My first PS3 was from Amazon. I buy about 100% of everything I don't get at the grocery store from Amazon. I am a top 1000 reviewer on there and my reviews got me a free 48" Mitsubishi from them in 2008 in exchange for a review. So yeah, get it from Amazon, they rock!
