Default Movies that remind you of someone?

Hello, I have watched a few movies that reminded me of people I have met in my life.

In Up when Carl met Ellie, the first time I saw it, Ellie reminded me of a friend I had in Middle school. We were in a special education class, and she was a rather active person with an active imagination and always seems happy, but hasn't made much of friendships with other people. I have had a couple of friends at the time, also special education, when I look at retrospectively, were a couple of cynical snobs, such as calling her a creep or a moron, but I didn't want to share those sentiments really, because I wasn't wanting to be cynical. I only knew her for a couple of years at the time and I haven't seen her in many years, I 've moved to a differnet town since.

What movies remind you of other people?

Nice story Trog. I always like hearing about the effect that movies have on people.

The first film that immediately came to mind for me was Vanilla Sky, with the scene being the night that Cruise and Cruz first spend together. It reminds me very much of my ex girlfriend and the first night I had spent with her. Ironically, she looks very much like Penelope Cruz. Everytime that scene comes on it's inevitable that I will think of the first night her and I had. She came down from NYC to stay with me for a week in Fort Lauderdale about a month and a half ago and we had some very similar nites. She's a very well known photographer whose work is featured around the world currently. Amazing chick.

A sweet woman from El Salvador I know loved the movie Babel. That same year her daughter from El Salvador was missing for 6 months until her body was found in the desert in Arizona. The travelers her daughter was with abandoned her because she was slowing them down. The movie strongly reminds me of her and those long months she had to endure without knowing where her daughter was.

I used to work with a guy at a petrol station, who looked exactly like Lee Van Cleef from The Good the Bad and the Ugly. So much in fact it was annoying to watch the film while I worked there lol

I don't mean to change the subject but I have certain songs that remind me of some chicks I used to know. Its too personal and emotional so I'm not sharing.

In About Schmidt with Jack Nicholson, the scene where he is on the pay phone calling his daughter to tell her he's on his way, he looks just like my dad who passed away over 16 years ago that I love and miss very very much. My jaw just dropped when I saw the resemblence.
Also Keanu Reeves's charcter in The Prince Of Pennsylvania reminds me of me and how I felt at that same time in my life. It's like the writer Ron Nyswaner, went into my mind while writing the script.

You bet. Yep haven't been posting much the past few months because the MCAT is right around the corner.

It was truly tragic (although some might not feel the same way). It reminds you of how real some things that movies depict really are.

Agreed, which is one reason why I love film so much. Good luck on the MCAT, by the way.

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader reminds me very much of my father, who passed away last year.

He had great potential (creative and spiritual) and was very sensitive, but very unfortunate circumstances (One of them being him locking his younger brother into a hay barn, where gas canisters were stored. His brother then started to play with matches and BOOM, the hay barn caught on fire. He died two days later. Needless to say that my father must have felt very guilty.) turned him into an alcoholic, drug addict, lowlife and completely irresponsible no-good guy. He suffered throughout his life.

I last saw him when I was 7 years old.
My sister, yeah, almost exactly like in SW, got to meet him again two years ago.
He had stopped drinking and doing drugs for a few years, and was working as a crystal healer.
I was in Viet Nam until last year, so when I came back I wanted to see him too, but the day I was scheduled to meet him in the hospital, he died of stomach cancer, 2 hours before I would have met him.

I am more like Luke, since I am a composer/musician, a Zen Buddhist, don't drink/smoke/eat meat...so I have fulfilled my potential (not to pride myself), whereas my father has to some degree redeemed himself in his autumn years.

Funny, eh?

Maybe that's why I love the SW Saga so much.

^^^^ Wow, amazing story.

I met a guy once who looked a lot like Morgan Freeman. A little skinnier face perhaps, but he had the exact same complexion, the same freckles, the same hair, a very similar-looking face, etc.

Also, the main character in "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" reminds me of myself. He and I are both geeks, socially inept, and the way he does a kung-fu stance whenever someone talks to him is something I could do (probably have done before, especially in high-school). He reminds me too much of myself.

Zach Braff in Garden State reminds me a lot of a friend from college. Everything he does, from the way he talks, his mannuerisms, down to the way he dresses and acts. It's exactly the same.

the film that most stands out for me is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

it's almost eerie how much I've found in common with this film (and that may be a part of why it's my second favorite film of all time...)

1. I actually dated a girl named Clementine once. When I saw ESOTSM and heard her say, "My name is Clementine" I was baffled.

2. My best friend since I was 3 is named Joel (Jim Carrey's character's name)

3. My junior year of high school I wore a bright orange hoodie everyday (looks the exact same as what Clementine wears in the opening scenes)

4. A trip to Montauk was the very first trip I ever went on. and that's where Joel and Clementine go on their first date.

5. My parents own a beach house that looks almost identical to the one shown in the film that Joel and Clementine break into.

no other movie has had so many resemblances to my life as a whole than this film. I'm also very glad that it became one of my favorites because I would've been extremely depressed had the movie sucked and reminded me so much of my life but luckily, it's GREAT.

i don't usually get teary eyed at films / tv shows, but ESOTSM gets me every time. whether or not that's the similarities or just the film itself i have no idea.

Some great stories in this thread. Thanks for the open sharing.

When a Man Loves a Woman. (1994) Andy Garcia and Meg Ryan

I was separated from my alcoholic wife (due to her drinking) at the time. Every voice inflection, movement, tear, rage and body english that Meg Ryan (an alcoholic in the movie) displayed was exactly like my wifes. Sad movie. Needless to say I was a blubbering idiot in the theater. Went back the next day to see it again because it had a happy ending.
