Thumbs up £15 each from June 11th: Uncharted 2 and Ratchet: A Crack in Time Platinum!

Uncharted 2 (HMV)

Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time (HMV)

Other sites like Amazon, ShopTo.net, TheHut.com and BlahDVD.com also list the platinum editions for varying prices under £20.

HMV have a habit of putting their prices up to RRP closer to release so make the most of it!

Okay, lemme get this right: i buy Uncharted 2 on week of release in November, and six months down the line the game drops in price by HALF to be released on the Platinum budget label? Hey, great deal for anyone who doesn't have the game, but that is a slap in the face for anyone who bought the game new!

If this is going to be a regular trend with first-party PS3 games then Sony can have my money 6 months after initial release when i buy it for half the cost. Gee, i bought God Of War 3 on day of release, a friend was thinkin' of buying it, can i tell him to wait until november to save himself £20?

Why are the Platinum editions so ugly?

Wow, are you saying that old stuff ISN'T as valuable as new stuff? That concept is totally unheard of! It's almost as bad as buying a new 2010 model car in 2010, and having someone else get the same 2010 model in 2011 for cheaper than what you paid. It's as if the supply of and demand for something can affect it's price! I think I'll call my brand-new discovery supply and demand!

BTW...did I mention " "?

To get the Platinum Edition people will have to buy the game and a lot of people at that and doesn't matter if it's 1st party games. It's been this way since the PS1 days and continued in the PS2 days, also works on PSP and even Xbox 360 does it as well.

So no it's not a slap in the face to anyone who buys games including yourself.

Sorry to hear that, The Don, it's an outstanding game. Unfortunately the bods at Sony have realised that sales of U2 have ground to a halt (after doing incredibly well) and want to scrape the bottom of the barrel by chucking it on to the Platinum label to generate more cash. Hope you are happy with your purchase, i know i was when i bought it...

I think the US will get a GOTY edition this year and that edition will go GH next year. The same thing happened with LBP, EU got the Platinum version, we got the GOTY version, then later GOTY version went GH in the US and EU got the GOTY version platinum edition.

Third-party games regularly drop from £40 to £30 or less within weeks. The RRP on platinum titles in the UK is £20 and Uncharted 2 will have been available for 8 months. I don't see what's so strange about this situation.

So what's the problem? There's some minimum amount of time the game needs to be available before they're allowed to officially drop the price?

Got some Euro sales numbers to back this up? Do you complain like this all the time when games drop in price and I just haven't seen it?
