I'm surprised that Apple hasn't come out with their own videogame console (although the ipad itself is close) and their own version of blu-ray...

They did

If you want Blu-ray on your computer, buy a PC. Barring some major deal being struck with Apple to finally allow FairPlay for managed copy, it's a solid 3-5 years away. Look what an ass Jobs is being about Flash and multiply.

Personally, Blu-ray in a laptop is the LAST place I would use it. YMMV.

I don't use my laptop to watch movies, I use it for web browsing, e-mail and processing my photographs.

Agreed, i use mine for web, music, email, pics. But if apple did release blu ray players they would look pretty sick on these high resolution screens

I use mine to export my high definition video footage to a useful format. A system that prides itself on video editing, should really support the capability to use current video output modes.

Watching? eh. Not so much. Data? Yes. I don't use my laptop to watch DVDs or listen to CDs either, but it would be stupid not to include optical drives.

It's not the best choice for movie viewing, but having a blu-ray burner would be very handy for HD video editing and storage though.

HD video editing on a laptop???

My brother does a lot of HD video editing and needs a beefy desktop and external hard drives for each movie. I can't imagine a laptop with that kind of RAM and processor power.

I really love my Macbook and all the things Apple have done in the past, but lately, they've become so arrogant. It's like they WANT to be seen as an evil monopoly. Although I'd never watch Blu-ray on a laptop anyways, I don't see why Apple needs to openly criticize Blu-ray and other technologies.

I use my PC for BD viewing - I also have a standalone, I prefer my audio options on my PC. If it wasn't for PC, I would have waited to get into Bluray. The PC was my test-bed for BD and it sold me. Many people use an HDMI out from a laptop to a full fleged HT system.

Default I want an Mac Mini but...

until Jobs put Blu-Ray in his computers it is a no go. I know as soon as I buy one then he will adopt it so I definately holding out. I wonder if we create a facebook fan page so he can see that people want this and would buy more of his products that he would truly consider it...So annoying

1) Or boot your Mac into Windows...

2) Flash does indeed suck, and it should die if you know anything about programming or computers.

I am no longer holding my breath and waiting on Apple to add blu-ray to their Mac Book Pros. I have moved on.
