Default The Rock - Region B Blu-ray questions

Hi everybody,

I'm thinking of getting the rock blu from the U.K., but i'm wondering if this version has any major edits compared to the latest U.S. dvd version. When you compare the running times at amazon u.k., there seems to be 5 minutes missing from the u.k. blu, the U.S. dvd has 5 minuters longer run time.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

The run time of the UK Blu-ray is 2:16:29, amazon's information is incorrect in saying 131 minutes.

Wasn't there a director's cut at some point, or was the Criterion collection version only a bunch of documentary extras?

If there was, what version is this?

I've got the Region 1 Criterion version on dvd & there was a couple of brief scenes of violence which were trimmed from the UK dvd release. Not sure about this one though.

Yeah, just received "The Rock" today in the post and it has the run time at 136mins approx. It's also region free i.e. A, B and C!

No, it means region B

It'll come out here very soon, my guess especially now would be sooner rather than later

according to amazon....the rock on blu-ray purchased from amazon.co.uk works flawlessly on any US blu ray player. Is this true ? Is this a region free bluray?

Why is this not coming to Blu Ray in US/Canada? I was looking it up and enough though it is Michael Bay Movie seems like it is distributed though Buena Vista, I don't see any Paramount on it.

I was less then impressed with the video on this one. I don't know it didn't really seem like it was High Def for some reason. But it's a bay film therefore I support it.

Michael Bay did Both Rock and Armageddon for Buena Vista, and Bad Boys 1&2 for Sony.

Like i said people, carefull on this one the UK SD had minor edits for violence. I'd rather stick with my SD than have a cut Blu Ray.....

It seemed good to me, better than any Warner encode I've ever watched.

te info on the site is wrong as u'll notice all BD's are given a B straight away i got my copy from this site and it says region abc at the back so don't worry but still if u're not sure get it from amazon UK as alot of other ppl are and i think its cheaper

I have the european BD of The Rock and I can assure you that it's zone free -- my only player is a region A PS3. Besides, the back cover clearly states that it's a region ABC title.

When in doubt, remember that 95% of our releases so far are region ABC. Aside from the Fox titles and stuff like RV and Deja Vu, the rest can be played in the US without problems.

You can find over here the updated list of european BDs that can be played across the Atlantic.
