Guys, need your help on this as I really can't decide for myself, and I know this has been asked a lot... as the title says go bigger with lower resoultion or a bit smaller for full HD? Moving into a new apartment, viewing room is 19x12, the shorter side is where the tv will be. I have two options, Panny 720p 50" plasma or Philips 47" FullHD LCD with the same price. As far as my research, it's all leaning towards the plasma. Any thoughts or comments on this,
Thank you in advance. ![]() |

I've owned a 46"Plasma,50" Lcd and now a 60" Dlp. And if I had to choose between the 2 your looking at, Go Plasma. You have more the enough viewing room for the bigger size. And You'll be happier you did. My 60" DLP is in an apartment. I'm sitting back at 9 feet.

If I had to choose, it'd be plasma all the way. My 720p Pioneer is just awesome in PQ, much better than my brother-in-law's bigger LCD. Blacks are black. Also, side viewing is great too with plasma; his LCD looks very washed out if you're somewhat away from center. But with your setup, that may not be important to you.
My 2 cents. Michael |

I would take the Plasma if it's a dark room, if this room has a lot of light grab the LCD, plasma looks washed out in bright light. Plasma is a better picture and I'm shopping right now but the main reason I'm leaning toward plasma is because it's for my basement.

![]() My Philips Plasma has a great picture and has lasted a long time. Cost me a fortune 4 years ago. My vote would be for the Panny nonetheless. |

Unless you are 5-7 feet away for a 50 inch you wont notice 1080P. People get caught up in numbers instead of figuring out what is the application for a set. Between the two I would get the plasma over the LCD. It will have better colors, motion and blacks. 720P is still a good looking resolution. If you are further then 7 feet away you wouldn't be able to tell 1080 from 720.

What source are you throwing at it? Blu-Ray? Then consider the 1080p, because you potentially see a difference if you have an eye for that sort of thing... if is standard dvd and hd sat or cable... get the 720p and you're laughing.

Another reason I went with a plasma (65" panasonic) was because of the angle of view. It's great to be able to sit or lie down anywhere and see a perfect picture. Perfect when all 18 of my nieces and nephews and family members are over for a movie night. not a bad seat in my HT.
