Default Yamaha-RX-V463 should I keep it or upgrade?

I plan on upgrading my speakers to
polk cs 10 center and polk TSI400 CHERRY floorspeakers.

Will my receiver be enough to power them and having them sounding their best? or will I need a new one. Im trying to holdout until next year when the 4k receivers are out longer and HDCP 2.2 compliant stuff is out the way.

I am running it optical instead of hdmi as well due to receiver not have 3d or 4k capability. Will this impact the sound on the polks? If these are to powerful what would be the best floor model speakers and center channel for the receiver I own (cherry finish preferred)

That AVR is enough power for every 6ohm and 80db or higher efficiency speaker ever made and will ever be made.

Yeah it's got enough power, but no HD audio. I won't tell you how to spend you're money, but if it were me, I wouldn't hesitate on upgrading that receiver. The RX-V377 or V477 would be much better and seem like a good match for your new speakers.

You just don't get lossless audio.

oh ok so it will still sound good just wont sound like it should with hdmi set up. It the difference in sound quality big? I ask that because I had my current system hooked up hdmi thru the receiver on my old tv and it sounded great. I got a 4 k tv 3d tv and my receiver doesnt have 4k pass thru or support 3d so Im running everything thru the tv hdmi ports and hoked up to the receiver by optical. It sounds good still but I do notice a difference from before.

Cause now, you have 2.0 pcm. Not DD or DTS.

^ Good point!
OP, you should run optical from your Blu ray player to your AVR so that you could get Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 Hopefully there are no lip sync issues.

The 463 incorporates lip sync between the HDMI repeater and digital inputs(but not the analog).
