Default The Muppet Movie

Who else besides me would love to see the very 1st Muppet Movie be released on Blu-ray? I think and wish they would at least consider it. I'm not talking about the Muppet Show.

I am soooo waiting for Muppets on blu. I would want Muppet Movie, Muppet Caper, Muppets Take Manhattan, Christmas Carol, and Treasure Island. I just don't really care for Muppets from Space though.

Muppets would look so beautiful and colorful in blu...to see Kermie's soft green felt and the whispy blue feathers on Gonzo's head

I have such wonderful childhood memories of the Muppets and still love them to this day. They just are classic!

Disney owns the rights to the Muppets now, I wonder if they've talked about putting them on blu?

All I know is with it under Disney's mantle, it'll look great, so I'd love to see it on BD.

It wouldn't be surprising to see at least The Muppet Movie released on Blu when the new movie will be released.

One of the odd things about being a parent..... your children will watch a movie over and over....... and over.................... and over. The Muppet Movie was one of these over and over movies. I must admit, after the 15th viewing, it kinda grows on the parents as well. Would I buy the Muppet Movie on Blu? Absolutely.. if for no other reason than to let my mind escape back to a time when my children were laying on the floor, their eyes glued to Kermit. Such warm memories.

HDNet Movies has been showing Muppets Take Manhattan and Muppets from Space this month and they often show films that will be getting a BR release soon.

A new Muppet movie is about to begin shooting. Any BD release would be tied to it. Muppets from Space may still be owned by Sony, though I did hear something about Disney purchasing it to complete the set.

Default Great!

Lately, this movie has grown on me, so I hope a Blu-ray release accompanies the release of that new movie later this year.

I'd rather have a Muppet Christmas Carol.

A lot of it depends-upon who owns certain rights to certain "Muppets" properties.

My son has a copy of Muppets from Space on DVD -- that movie, along with The Muppets Take Manhattan are both owned by Sony/Columbia Pictures, not Disney.

I would imagine if the upcoming movie does extremely well at the box office, perhaps Disney may buy the rights to whatever Muppets properties they don't already own?

I've been hoping to see an announcement for the Muppet movies as the new film gets closer to theaters. With the new trailer debuting, I'm sad that there is no detail on possible blu-ray release for the orginal film (or honestly, any of the theatrical films).

I really want to watch THE MUPPET MOVIE again soon - but I'd rather do it on blu-ray than with my old DVD.

I'd like a chance to watch at least The Muppet Movie and The Great Muppet Caper on BD before seeing the new movie as well.

Possible, but not likely. If the movie, ahem, doesn't do well in theaters , that may be the final justification they're waiting for to wash their hands of Eisner's Folly.

At the moment, Disney owns Show, Movie, Caper, Christmas, Treasure and Oz, and you'd think we'd have at least one of them Blu-lit by now for cross-promotional desperation. (Sony owns Manhattan, Space, Kermit's Swamp, and Crystal/Labyrinth, and pretty sure Lionsgate/HiT still owns Fraggle Rock.)
Like their similar down-to-the-wire guarding of Tron:Classic, if we don't hear something from Disney by the end of summer--as the movie promotion is JUST STARTING now--then something may be amiss.

I am hoping and praying, like many of you, that Both Disney and Sony jump on the big Muppet marketing push that will be happening in the fall and put ALL of these Muppet films out on Blu by the end of the year (Movie, Caper and Manhattan being my personal favorites).

That being said, Disney might wait to release THEIR Muppet properties to coincide with the DVD/Blu-Ray release of the new movie, so it is very possible that we might not see Movie, Caper, Xmas, etc until 2012 at earliest.

Then again, at the very least they could toss Xmas out for the holiday season. I know it's a good annual DVD seller for them....

I've been watching through the first season of The Muppets Show the last week or so, so my personal vote would be for a blu-ray release of the tv series. It's pure brilliance.

Haven't seen any of the movies for ages, but I don't ever really remember enjoying most of those. But maybe I've aged into them? I'd be open.
