United Kingdom Minority Report... is it meant to shimmer and have glare?

I just watched Minority Report for the first time and loved the film... but in a lot of scenes it looks like there is white light everywhere and it sort of shimmers, like glare.

I'm looking at a particular scene right now where Pre-cops are running along a balcony and the metal part of the balcony is bright white and so is the glass behind them.

Aye, it's been desaturated whilst the blues and whites have been given a boost in order to maintain a futuristic and slick look.

Thanks, yeah I just read the High Def Digest review. I'm glad I'm not the only one who found the style a little annoying.

The white light was just too bright, it looked like someone was shining artificial light on the set.

Annoying it may be but the style is very fitting with the themes of the film. The manipulation of images and the obscuring of important details, etc.

Artificial light? On a Movie-Set??? Impossible!
These crazy directors... what will they think of next, fake walls?

But seriously: Steven Spielberg and his DP Janusz Kaminski used this technique quite often.

For example:

Amistad,
Saving Private Ryan,
A.I. Artificial Intelligence,
Munich,
War Of The Worlds

Hehe, I should have specified; 100 floodlights.

They haven't used the same technique to this extent though. In some scenes, the picture looked good but in others there was just random white light shining off people's faces and clothes... it looked odd. Definitely not a fan of that, it just put me off.

Ah well, I was just checking my disc wasn't faulty or something!
