I just noticed that the side masks on my Panasonic DMP BD-55 are set to "gray" for 4:3 content (older movies and TV shows on DVD). I can't seem to adjust my BD player, so that ALL 4:3 content is displayed with "black" side masks, instead of "gray". I have to set the player for 16:9/FULL, so that the DVD content is displayed as "full" and then I have my TV (Pioneer Pro 111FD), change the format to 4:3 and the TV displays the black side masks for the 4:3 content.
My much older Panasonic DMP BD-10AK is set to just 16:9 and any 4:3 content is displayed with black side masks, which are generated by the player (and not the TV). That TV is a Panasonic TH 50PZ85U. Is there ANY way to configure the side masks on the BD-55 to display black masks on 4:3 content? Thanks! ![]() |
