About time. Seems like I've been waiting forever for this one. A new transfer would be nice, but I don't see it happening for such a recent film.

Hopefully it includes all available extras this time. The UK DVD release only had a commentary, but not the featurette, deleted scenes, bloopers and trailer which was available on all other releases. The other releases however didn't include the commentary.

The source used for the HD-DVD version will be used again for when they encode to blu-ray but at a much higher bitrate like they did with transformers.

The exisiting source given its only a few years old is fine and even on HD-DVD it looked very good so it will look good on blu-ray unless someone realy screws it up.

Nothing wrong the transfer as that's how Stardust looked in the cinemas. The PQ has been discussed to death as part of HD DVD reviews. I think its now time to move on and embrace the BLU version.

Does anyone know if this disc is region-free?
Paramount used to do all region-free discs, but lately has started region coding.
I'd love to import, but I'll wait until someone can tell me for sure, since shipping it over can be a little costly.

I only seen 2 US disk from paramount region locked (Gladiator and Braveheart). All the UK disks and other US disk from paramount I brought have never been locked.

That's because Paramount only has the rights to release this film in the US. They don't own the rights in other countries. For Stardust Paramount has the worldwide rights.

please let us know =). only diff would be the physical case, UK being fatter than the US BD case.

i'm so excited about it... dunno if i can wait. it's roughly $20USD for the movie, i dunno what the shipping cost is... like $3? so somn like $23-25 delivered for the movie.

There is a 99.9% chance the BD will be region-free. Stardust is a catalog title at this point that Paramount owns the rights worldwide. Most likely the UK disc will be identical to the eventual U.S. release except for subtitle options and maybe secondary language tracks.
