It could be the wheel. When was the last time you calibrated? Do you have a calibration disc like Spears & Munsil or DVE?

mike what do you have? Sony SXRD TV's are LCD Rear Projection, not DLP; that's a different technology. Can you tell us the model # and Brand tv you have. I currently have a Sony SXRD TV as you can see in my signature and in my gallery.

Also, how long has this issue existed? is this a brand new set or have you had it for a while? does the issue show up all of the time or only when using certain inputs or certain devices connected to the tv?

answering these questions will help go along way for all who want to help you. and trust me, we all want to help you!

Spear & Munsil - I recommend this one for video calibration. The test patterns are better than the DVE disc IMHO

DVE Basics - this one is good for explaining all the hows and whys with regard to understanding your system and how to make adjustments, what you should be looking for, etc. It also has a pretty good audio test section. The patterns aren't as good as the Spears & Munsil disc, but it really does have a lot of good info, like a tutorial. Takes about 2 hours to play through it.

Sounds like the Optical Block. You might want to contact Sony about them replacing it (there was just a thread about a lawsuit against them for it).

well, i don't think calibration is going to help you. tv's just don't change things on their own (unless they are designed to with stuff like light sensors and such but we aren't talking about stuff like that) if your colors are fading or changing tones & hues then it almost sounds like you are having Optical Block issues. if you had told me that the picture is just getting darker and colors were "fading" then i would have said you probably need a lamp change.

how long have you had the sony? i have had mine for 5 years and in that time i have had my Optical Block changed and one relamping. it works like new set. it was done for free under my Geek Squad extended warranty with BB. lots of SXRD owners have had this issue. there are many threads on this so i recommend that you do a search in the rear projection tv section to find it.

i do hope i'm wrong about this but like i said, if your set was working fine and suddenly, on it's own started displaying different colors and given the fact that it's an SXRD i'm leaning towards optical block. if i'm right about this, it will start getting worse and you will start seeing patches of yellow or green colors in areas of the screen that they have no business being and they won't go away, they will only get worse. that's what happened to me.

is your cable & blu-ray connected to a receiver then to the tv or do they both go direct to a seperate input in the tv? and of course have you tried swapping inputs (bo that sounded wrong ) to see if you get the same results? again, i'm hoping i'm wrong but i don't think so. especially being an SXRD owner and having goine through this already.

hang in there we want to help you get some better insight into your issue. keep us posted.

I believe due to the lawsuit they do it for free. Solarrdadd might be able to answer since he still has his SXRD, I got rid of mine a long time ago after having the optical block replaced, the balast, the shutter and one other part. Sony tried to get me to purchase a much smaller (and far inferior) LCD set from them, stating that they were "doing me a favor."

i am afraid that those days might either be over or coming to a very unhappy end. check out this link for the latest on the SXRD optical block issue. i do hope you can get your issue resolved at no cost or get any money spend refunded to you. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/new...pl?news_id=402

how long have you had your set and did you buy it brand new and if so did you get the extended warranty?

i was very lucky claytonmg, i got the extended warranty from geek squad at BB when i bought mine and yes, i had my OB replaced a couple of years ago and i also had one relamping done too. my SXRD is working fine to this date so again, i've been lucky.
