Default I want the old previews!

Who else thinks that they should put the previews from the original VHS/DVD versions of movies on the Blu-ray format when they get upgraded? I just turned on Toy Story and expected to see a trailer for Hercules or something but no...just TS3

Some movies I was used to what played before the movie and I feel they're kinda nostalgic.

Like the Pizza Hut commercial that played before Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on VHS. I'd like to have that again.

"Off in the distance, the game's dragging on....."

I totally agree! I think the ones that change every time are kinda cool, but yeah there are so many old movie trailers/commercial/tie-ins I'll miss.

That's why I play rightfield, way out where the dandelions grow. I miss that before TMNT too.

I think commercials that would say something like, "Coming to theaters in the summer of 1997" would just confuse people.

I only want legacy trailers and commercials that relate to the product I'm watching. If I buy a movie, I'd like to have every trailer associated with it. I'm not interested in random trailers that happened to be paired with it on a prior home video release.

Kind of mssing the TRUE point of previews...

They aren't there for your entertainment, they are marketing tools. More often than not the actual re-release of the movie itself is a marketing tool. The point of the Toy Story releases are to bring attention to the new Toy Story movie. Yeah, they make a little money on the sales of the blu's but that the bonus.

The point of the previews is to get you excited about spending more money on that particular studios upcoming movies, whether in the theaters or at home.

What would be the point of having previews that won't bring the studio money be? Your entertainment? Don't be fooled, the studios couldn't care less about your entertainnment beyond whether you'll spend money on it or not.

Their purpose is money, not entertainnment, entertainment is just the vehicle they use to get it from you.

I disagree with how far you've gone with this perspective. The point of these rereleases is to get the money from the home video stream. Theatrical these days is getting to where it "promotes" the home video, which is where studios make most of their money.

Surely it's a bonus that the new Toy Story blu-ray discs can promote TS3, and surely they'll always time a release to come out before a sequel, but that isn't the "point".

It would be nice to see, as an extras track the old previews for movies coming out at the same time, or old commercials. But then again, I am a sucker for nostalgia.
