Default Subwoofer question

So I'm going to be setting up my HTIB soon and I am wondering about one thing with the sub. So under the carpet there is cement. Will that effect the sound and the base from me feeling it when it plays my movies?

hmm. carpet like floor carpet or smaller carpets? for what its worth, it shouldnt. lower frequencies will still dissipate the sound, no matter what flooring you'd have.

if ever, you can end up using bass traps if its too much or reverbs towards other rooms.

I have a sub in my upstairs bedroom and one in my basement.
I have found no ill effects from either and my basement has cement under the carpet.
Keep the sub away from the TV to negate interference, see manual.

The living room has carpet on it right now. It's thick. And under the carpet is cement.

so, is it a question of is it going to be too much, or too little of it?

The concrete slab under your house won't impede your ability to hear or feel your sub. In fact, most people with hardwood / tile flooring have to put some sort of a rug down to help with reverberations, acoustics, and minimize boominess. You'll be fine with carpet over your slab.

Ahh, the cement will dissapate the floor energy of the sub but, you ears will not notice a drop.
Wood subflooring acts like a reflex membrane on the low freq sound waves.
