Default Soul Calibur: Lost Swords

Soul Calibur is the latest fighter to go F2P

http://m.ign.com/articles/2013/09/11...-playstation-3

They need to STOP it with these free to play fighters. Don't like this new trend

I love Soul Calibur with all my heart. They broke said heart with that last piece of shit iteration with their half assed single player mode, removing characters that people care about (Kilik!!!!) and just a shitty game, but hopefully they can get it back on track.

Not a fan of free to play, but if all the for pay stuff is just costumes and shit, I'm good with that, as I won't bother with that.

Single-Player Experience? I like that very much.

Quote:
Following its reveal in Japan’s Famitsu magazine earlier today, Soulcalibur Lost Swords is confirmed for release in Europe—and it will be a “single-player experience” according to Namco Bandai.

Namco Bandai will release the free-to-play fighting game in Europe via the PlayStation Network. As previously reported, Siegfried and Mitsurugi will be among the game’s playable characters.

More news on Soulcalibur Lost Swords is expected at this year’s Toyko Game Show.

This may seem like a dumb question but what is a free to play game? Free to download and play but you end up having to pay for things later? Like ipad apps?? curious...

Free to download, but the roster will be extremely limited, and you will have to pay to unlock all the other characters and possibly modes.

Not unless they do it like Tekken Revolution where all of the modes and characters are available, but need Gift Points or Experience points to unlock characters or whatever. There will likely be DLC costumes as well just like Tekken Revolution.

Well this is a new trend. So this doesn't apply to Soul Calibur IV or V. This is the 1st Soul Calibur game to do this that I know of.

Well it's not really a game that's going to be good or bad. Just a basic game with microtransactions if you want to spend money on whatever the microtransactions apply to. But if you don't want to spend money on those microtransactions, that's ok too and it will just be a free Soul Calibur game you can play until Soul Calibur II HD Online comes out.

In TK you had to pay to play. You had a limited number of matches and when that was up, you had to pay to continue playing until it reset. That's if Im remembering it correctly. Hated it when I did try

But if you come back the next day, it resets. So do it correctly, and you'll never spend a penny. So just do a couple of matches a day. Also I remember them giving me Premium Tickets whenever I signed in which gives you more EXP and Gift Points.

thats stupid. Who just plays a couple of matches and then waits 24 hours to come back to play? They set it up like an arcade experience where you have to pay in order to continue which is such a backwards way to go about things considering how home fighters have evolved in the last 20 years. This F2P trend for fighters is awful and I hate how we are seeing more and more fighters adopt this model. It needs to die
