Default Yamaha M2 Power Amp

I ran accross a local add in my city for a Yamaha M2 amp for $250. Does anyone have any info or experience with these amps? From what I can tell (I downloaded the manual) it is 2 channel rated at 240w per ch @ 8 ohms. It is a beast, weighing 46lbs and appears to have been produced in the early 80's. I'm having trouble digging up much info on these things and I've never owned a seperate amp before. My new Denon AVR990 arrived today and I was thinking I could use the Yamaha to drive my front Polk M70's, which are rated at 275 watts max. Does this seem like a reasonable price and if so, what should I look for if I decide to go view it?
