Default Looking for the best Disney/Pixar/Kid movie on Blu-ray

I want a insanely funny, non-stop action, intelligent, hidden adult joke movie to be able to watch with my little nephews that also shows off the power and wonder of Blu-ray video and it's sound...and for me to still be entertained as well

what's the best contenders to check out (and buy)?...

...and I didn't even mention Paramount
whoops!

Thanks, that movie looked really amazing and good from it's trailer

Any release date of when that movie will be out on Blu?
...what's the best one out now?

Got to love Cars.
Ratatouille is also a great film! I recommend both but all Pixar films are still on pre-order.
Disney has Sleeping Beauty coming out soon, but it too is on pre-order.
Currently out you are a little limited since there are not that many really good family films on Blu-ray yet.

I thought Monster House had some great animation and it's available now. They got a lot of good actors to voice work. Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, Jason Lee, Kathleen Turner, Cathrine O'Hara, Fred Willard, Maggie Gyllenhall. And hey if nothing else you could always watch titles upconverted.

Definitely Cars...has the hidden adult humor so that when watched 500 times-it doesn't drive you crazy like other movies.

Even though Monster House is not a Pixar/Disney film, it is still a ver good family film. I really enjoyed it.
I think your kids would too.

Open Season

If you possibly can, get "Cars" AND "Ratatouille" BOTH on "Pixar On Blu-Ray Day" 11.6.07
As one wise man put it, "Double your pleasure, double your fun".

Thanks, it doesn't have to be a Pixar/Disney film. I'm just clueless when it comes to family movies

Not at all. I am a huge animation fan/buff. I understand that most animations are seen as "for kids" while other, more elusive titles, are seen as "adult only". With the exception of "anime" (Japanese animation), there are not that many animations targeted a main audience. Luckily people like Dreamworks, Pixar, Disney, Blue Sky, etc... tend to make good "family" films. These are not the same as "kids" films in that kids do indeed enjoy them, but so does everyone else in the family (especially parents).

There is another good animation on Blu-ray, it is not for everyone. I suggest you look into it and decide for yourself if you think it is appropriate for your kids. It's called "Corpse Bride". Very good stop-motion animation, by the same people who made "Nightmare Before Christmas" (a classic).

Hope this helps too.

I agree the the ^^^ list and add Monster House. Chicken Little is reference quality. These should keep you happy until Nov 6th when Pixar arrives.

It's technical quality, if but for the fact that it may be one of the most obnoxiously unwatchable non-Dreamworks animateds ever made.
(And among fans, has now supplanted Dinosaurs and Black Cauldron for the title of "Worst Disney Animated of All Time".)

I see the entire thread forgot Disney's "Meet the Robinsons" also coming out for 10/23--
And half the fun is in watching how much of the hyperactive Chicken-era David Stainton project in the first two-thirds of the movie was torn apart, retooled, and "fixed" back into Ratatouille-esque Pixar cuddliness in the last reels by a midstream John Lasseter makeover...
You couldn't ask for a better back-to-back comparison illustration of what was wrong with '03-'06 Disney, and what's just so right about having the Cars and Ratatouille people on board from here on in.

Easy. "Cars". But you'll have to wait till November.

Be sure to put "Finding Nemo" on your calendar for Fall 08, and "The Incredibles" will definitely be a chart buster when it releases on Blu-ray.

I have The Wild and Chicken Little - both would be great animations to have.

Chicken Little is a great reference disc for PQ.
