Roxul: anyone used it? Worth the $$? Alternatives?

I'm building my home theater in the basement, and one of my primary concerns is sound containment. I want to be able to watch flicks at a good volume while not disturbing the rest of the house (especially at night).
The other side of this, though, is that I'm not looking to spend a ton. I mean I'm not going to do things like absorption panels, bass traps, resilient channels... any of that stuff. Just looking to optimize the insulation to do whatever I can that way.

I've seen Roxul Safe n' Sound recommended a number of times. Does it do a good job of isolating sound? Is it noticably better than standard insulation? Are there any other brands of similar insulation you would recommend?
