Default Soul Searching...

With the news of Paramount going exclusive I think things have changed. Unless something big comes from BD soon I think this war will drag on. If that happens then Dual format players will be the dominant players on the market. After reviewing the Paramount movie list I realized there are movies I do not want to live without on HD.

I am disgusted that a less superior format is still alive and kicking and gaining ground. For the first time I am sick of this HD war.

I am going to create a disk with less space and lower bitrates than both HD DVD and Blu-ray and get a bunch of idiots to buy my disks. Since specs mean nothing in HD and everyone hates M$, Sony, Toshiba, I will be rich and the consumers can have an inferior product.

Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt over BD, under 100 posts. These kiddos havn't seen 8 months of blu domination and get scared off by a bruise on the shoulder. stop the crap, everything will be alright, litterly all hd dvd has is universal and TIMED EXCLUSIVES. Its absoutley not enough. There will be no Warner deal, Warner sits on the BDA, paramount never did.

Come on hippie. Seriously, on the wagon or off. Stay on and fight, or go in the corner and write a poem about it.

EDIT:
Sorry, I'm sick of all the turncoats lately. I snapped, and I apologize.

I have had a Blu-ray player longer than you and have been a member of this forum longer than you as well (Not to rub it in, but I own more movies as well). Just because I am not a post ***** so don't question my commitment to BD. I just feel that without something big from BD ( Which they are capable of doing) this war is going to drag out. If it does drag out then my next player (which was going to be the new Sony -500 when it came out) will be a dual format player so I can play some Paramount movies.

dont blame you at all. it looks like we got a lot of new ps3 owners with 5 free blu-rays in here that are ready to bail because of Shrek and Transformers, whoopdie doo. you really think that is gong to crap against Die Hards, Spideys, Pirates, Cars, Ratatioulle, Kings of NEwyork, Master and Commander, ec.

i will question your commitment to blu=ray when because of a few movies your actions are going to drag this thing out further. if ppl would not bail and support blu-ray uni and para would see their mistakes and come back. if ppl bail then other studios will think thats acceptable.

I see where your logic is and it makes since but it isn't realistic. This contract is not going to be broken within the next year. I am just pissed that this "war" is still going on and I just happen to like quite a few Paramount Movies.

PPL are going to buy more HD dvd Players due to this news no matter what. If BD comes out with something big on their side it will help negate the Paramount news. If not, PPL are not going to wait years for this to iron out. Dual format players will allow people to buy both formats and not worry about what movies they buy.

I doubt that. Their price will always have people waiting.

A lot of people won't bother until they are sure one or both formats are going to survive.

Hasn't Paramount now taught everyone that when Microsoft is really ready for downloads, another round of big fat cheques will yank HD DVD support too?

Just like universal SACD/DVD-A players meant people could buy both hi-def audio formats and not worry what albums they buy. Oh wait, because of their format war, neither format gained mass-market acceptance, and both are now effectively dead.

I don't think this can be compared in the same way.

HD DVD and Blu-ray are High Def. People have already adopted High Def by buying TV's and subscribing to HD on Cable/Satellite..etc. HD DVD and Blu-ray give people the ability to now rent or buy these movies and watch them at home and make use of their HD TV.

And both formats continue to grow. When both stop showing growth, then we may have a problem.

Hd-dvd exclusives; Universal, probably not for long, and Paramount.
Blu-ray exclusives; Disney, Sony, MGM, Lionsgate, and 20th Century Fox.
Blockbuster will only be renting blu-rays, and Target has stated that the only hd-dvd players that they will carry will be the Xbox 360 add-on unit, while the blu-ray players will get high exposure aisle endcaps.
This is not a big deal.
PS3's would win this war even if stanalone bd players weren't for sale.

What makes you think Universal is not going to stay exclusive? With Paramount going exclusive, I think it takes the pressure off of Universal to change.

Whatever happens with the studios, I still have the best of the only true format for the time being and I don't see myself buying any crap from the low-res DVD to his brother HD-DuD.

A) He's been posting on the board 4 months longer than you.

B) What the hell does 100 posts have to do with anything?

Just found your comments odd.
