Default The "How To" Remake Thread

DO NOT SKIM THIS POST! PLEASE READ EVERYTHING IN THIS POST BEFORE POSTING A RESPONSE!!!!

I searched and didn't find anything resembling this, so I thought why not try something new.

Alright, I have created this thread because, no matter if we like it or not, remakes/reboots/re-imaginings are going to happen and we can't do anything about it. The only thing we can do is sit, wait, and pray that our "classic" films do not get butchered like they so often do.

So, here's the deal. We are going to do a "How To Remake" (Insert Movie Name or Category Here). This is were I will name a movie (submitted by the Blu-ray community), and everyone will pick apart that movie on how to improve it for a remake (Everything can be improved one way or another ), what should stay unchanged, what should go, etc. This is not a casting call, so let's please refrain from casting choices, at least until we iron out the rest of the details.

Everyone is welcome to this thread. If you have seen the movie, please discuss what would make it better. If you have not seen the film, follow the link I provide to information about the film, then discuss it or just discuss the category the film is in and what would make the genre better. But please stay on the topic of the category and film(s) associated with it.

To keep this thread clear and ON TOPIC, not jumping around from movie to movie. (You can reference other movies in the same genre if you feel one done something better than the other).

We will stay with a movie/category for a few days or longer according to how the discussion goes. If you have a suggestion for a film to be discussed, send me a PM and we will try to get it done in order. So, again, please stay on topic!

Please remember to respect others opinions. No one is right or wrong, people just have different views on things .

Here we go.

Default Horror Movie - The Howling - Category - Werewolf

The first film is

(For all of you horror fans!)

The Howling (For details on this film, follow this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Howling_%28film%29)

This is a horror film from the early 1980's (My favorite wrewolf flick!)

So, if you have seen this, discuss what could be done to make this remake better than the film.

If you have not seen this, discuss werewolfs. (What was the best you have seen in a film, what would make a werewolf look better and seem more realistic or scary etc. Whatever you think!)

haha! sorry

I don't think they can make The Howling a better film, it's a great werewolf movie. I think if they wanted to get it right, they need to see what works so well in the orginal, try and intergate it into there remake, and see if they can up it by adding modern effects (not CGI, like better make-up)

Agreed. I think the make-up needs to stay. I think CGI can be used for some parts, but not for the transformations.

Find a director who cares about the material, who is attracted to the story and the themes. Don't hire a paint-by-the-numbers director who just wants to get a paycheck. Then, don't worry about making it better than the original, just focus on telling a good story with good performances like you would with any other film.

This is what every good remake has in common. And that's my answer for any remake.
