Default Panasonic 2009 Models and Black Levels?

I just got wind of all this hub-bub via an Amazon review. The black-level item doesn't concern me too-too much, as many state that the black level is still good, but just not as good.

My concern is with the IR issues that pop up later in the sets life.

Can anyone talk to these points??
