Default Blu-ray owners.. are you intelligent?

Mods can you please leave this as a single thread and not merge it? Did not see a way to PM the mods with this request.

If so, I suggest you start acting like it. The title was not to offend but rather get your attention. I see post talking about if Warner goes exclusive then its over for Blu-Ray. Think about what you are saying. HD-DUD had 1 studio (Universal) that was their only exclusive studio for almost 2 years now and did they accept defeat and give up? The PS3 has given Blu-Ray over 5 million players and that number will only grow once the gamers jump on board this holiday season when the games start being released. The way I look at it Warner and Paramount might had planned this from the beginning because look at how many titles they both released... very few and Warner was only porting the movies over to Blu-Ray disk from their HD-DUD encodes (not taking advantage of 50GB space) costing them no extra money. So they figured they could make a little extra money with little risk, then once their contract runs out with BDA they switch over to HD-DUD again and this would have more psychological impact right when it looks like Blu-Ray is the winner.
Another thing HD-DUD did not account for is like it or not this economy is heading for a serious recession within the next year. Do you think people struggling to make mortgage payments and trying to provide food for their families are going to invest in either Blu-Ray or HD-DUD with the uncertainty that surrounds the formats? Guess who will still have some extra spending money to buy Blu-Ray movies? The demographic that does not have to provide for their family and pay a mortgage, that would be gamers (15-25). They will still have their little job side job bringing in spending money and they don't have have to worry about paying bills. (they live at home with parents)
The PS3 is a very powerful tool for Blu-Ray and is not going anywhere. Who wants to invest in that POS X-box 360 that has a flawed design and is certain to give you RRD within a year and leave you without a console for 1 month. So lets calm done with some of the irrational thinking around here, (just what Microsoft wants you to do). Also lets not forget the HUGE advantage Blu-Ray has with the PC market for burning applications and storage. HD-DUD cannot even produce a burner. HD-DUD simply is a stop gap technology that is truly not next generation in anyway shape or form. At first I did support HD-DUD and Blu-Ray but ever since DOUCHEBAG AMIR revealed himself as FUD spreading liar (50GB is vaporware ) I returned my HD player to walmart and vowed never to spend another dime on a format claiming to be next generation that could not even do KING KONG with a Tru-HD soundtrack because of bandwidth limitations from 30GB HD-DUD. Are you going to let Microsoft control you once again with lies and strong arm you into buying the inferior format HD-DUD? I know I am not.

I don't necessarily agree with all your saying, but I do wonder why so many posts here seem to be so concerned with various things.

Its like people are afraid or something.

You own blu-ray players.. enjoy the movies you have and the players. Stop being so fearful. Blu-ray isn't going anywhere. You should accept the fact that HD DVD probably isn't going anywhere either - certainly not anytime soon.

i like your style

To the battle my brothers!

and in the case of movies3 my sisters too.

i said something like this is several other threads. if warner goes neutral it would be bad. would it be a death blow though? hells no. it would make the playing field even. the bug guns will come out. as long as new line cinema releases are neutral i think it will be very interesting. if lotr goes to any one side it mat tip the scales quite a bit. but the gloves are coming off. fox has already shown that they are bringing the big stick with the die hard movies sony is bringing spiderman trilogy, aliens is fox as well i believe. i want this thing over too. but if it does keep going the silver lining may very well be the early release of some of these much talked about titles. i'd still like to see the bda come crahing down through the ceiling boondock saints style and start up a body count. meaning throw a lot of money at warner to get them blu exclusive. then it'll be 80% of hollywoods revenues on the blu side and 20% for hd dvd. makes my eyes and ears tingle with glee.

Haha. I like your style a lot.

That's what I'm trying to say in the other threads too. Even if Warner goes DUD exclusive, that will merely even the playing field in terms of studio support. Well, somewhat, as I still think Sony + Disney + Fox is stronger than Warner + Para + Uni, but let's leave that aside for now.

But what about players? BD is selling 2:1 or better on common titles now. With PS3 sales going up towards the holidays, it's going to get even better. BD also has many other CE supporters. I'm sure Panasonic is not going to just lie down and let Toshiba walk all over them. Funai is coming soon, with their strong ties with Wal-Mart and cheap but reliable technology.

Remember M$ is trying to play spoiler here, they don't want DUD to win outright either. So let's get intelligent and try to find a quick way out of here, OK?

enjoy

Blu-ray has been very successful since release. It really has been month after month of good news. I think most of the "concerned" posters here are just suffering from a bit of shock at the unnexpected bad news. We became too used to winning! Soon enough, they will realize Blu-ray is not going anywhere soon, and that this news with Paramount is not nearly as big a deal as it seemed. I'm sure we'll once again become resolved to see this through to victory.

right On people freaked with the paramount thing NO TRANSFORMERS im not moving no more blu-ray for me .. so lame... Looking at our upcoming movies I see like 50+ that are must buys and another 20 that are probly worth buying... it's really funny to see how so people act going from GO blu Sept 18th add me to that list to now HOLD ON I think for me to continue buying blu I need an incentive or im not buying it at all pretty F***in dumb if you ask me, lol Im happy supporting a better format getting the most out of my 19.99-31$ movies go blu And a big thanks to all the real supporters out there who are moving on from this news!

side note in my opinion going thru our 3 pages of upcoming movies i found 30 that I must and will own and another 15 that I'll probly get I think we have alot upcoming and should move on from all this WB paramount nonsense

I didn't read the initial post because it's late and I'm tired. Others are happy with your post and from the little I read of their posts I gather this is a BUCK UP YOU NANCY BOY BLU-BOY thread. To which I agree wholeheartedly. I've re-doubled my efforts ih this battle.

One thing that has always amazed me was how hd dvd supporters just kept on keeping on. I know that for the most part they are swimming in a bottomless sea of denial but it was still somewhat impressive how they met every piece of bad news, every kick to the groin, with resolve. Pathetic yes, but stil impressive.

I think the fact that we've had such a good run and that it seemed the end was near has magnified the importance of the Para***** betrayal.

But I say to you, here this day, that the future is in OUR hands! WE are the masters of our fate.

It is up to every God-fearing, 1080p-loving, lossless -demanding, 50GB coveting son of a ***** in this grand Blu army to stand up now by God and be accountable!

I love every one of you sons of *****es and I'm proud to go into this battle with you.

We're gonna go through Redmond like crap though a goose!

And when this war is over, and your grandson on your knee asks you what you did in the great hi def format war. Well, you won't have to say "I shoveled shit at Para*****".

Cool Amen

It's as if everyone forgets about POTC 3, Spiderman 1,2,&3, etc.

Not to mention the fact that Blu-Ray is outselling HD-Blah 2:1. Nothing has changed but one weak-ass studio.

I do like that this has motivated people to at least get some discussion going.

The bottom line, as always..........Good Guys Win, Bad Guys Lose and, as always BLU-RAY PREVAILS!!

People are just unsettled at the moment. It'll calm down. HD DVD has been in a much worse predicament than Blu-ray all year (hardware deficit, software deficit, studio deficit) and while the outcome is no longer as certain as it was a week ago, I think way too many people are panicking.

It's ok to feel uncertain when the odds increase, but Blu-ray is in no way losing the format war even with Paramount's defection (Don't believe me? Look at tomorrow's Nielsen numbers - I guarantee they'll put things in perspective).

There are many moves still to be made before the Christmas season starts, from both sides. HD DVD is back in the game as opposed to losing badly, but all this doom and gloom on the Blu-ray side is so very undeserved.

I think alot of whats going on is just venting I know I ranted all over the place. I got alot of it out of my system I think it was just the feeling of being let down. Every time you put in a paramount movie and saw the stars spin around the screen it gave me a child like feeling like something wonderful was going to happen. star trek indy all those great memories pissed on by some scumbag in an office is really disipointing. When you plunk down 600 bucks of your hard earned money on a bluray player your making a bit of a personal investment. when you are playing by the rules doing you research buying your movies and some plicks come by and steal your lunch money it bothers ya.

People need to man up and take this news like a man and stand behind Blu-Ray. Too many threads on here I keep hearing people will be format neutral or stop buying Blu-Rays just because a sorry @$$ studio decided to leave M$ for $150 Million? I have stepped up my support and have bought 6 Blu-Rays this week. I will continue to atleast try to purchase two a week. I am a true Blu-Ray supporter and I will never support an inferior format for a handfull of movies, that just ain't happening. On top of that I hate how M$ likes to buy out anything they can get their hands on. I can't wait till the day this format war is over and we will be victorious. Like in the movie 300 "This is Blu-Ray!!!"

it just sucks that microsoft is this devoted to making the world take a step backward in technology.....because even if their main goal is to ruin optical discs....getting a downloaded hd movie to rival a blu-ray is a long way off...let microsoft KEEP the hd-dvd technology.....use it in your xbox 1080...youll still be behind the ps3...say what you will about blu-ray not being a finished technology....but if the main goal of hd-dvd is THE FUTURE....why the hell are they so focused on touting their spec as being finished and better when it is completely obvious that blu-ray will inherit all the 'good' features hd-dvd has....and evolve them even more.....think of it this way...when prices are equal between hd-dvd and blu-ray players (which isnt very far off), and the blu-ray spec is finished....why the hell would anyone buy an hd-dvd player...(this is what was going thru bill gates' mind 2 weeks ago)....buying paramount and dreamworks is the only way to put a dent in the juggernaut....i do think warner is a slight concern and something needs to be done to secure them....or somehow get exclusive rights to new line (is that possible without going thru warner)....basically, i feel like i was robbed by microsoft....of time, not money...because i was completely willing to put off any universal movies until they came to blu...which you know was so close.....but now this 18month shit just makes me shake my head....im still 100% blu but i dont like whats going on...what can we do to piss the studios off? i would never encourage piracy but I REALLY WISH I COULD STUMBLE ACROSS A COPY OF TRANSFORMERS ON A BURNED BLU-RAY...and give it to everyone who owns a blu-ray player....that would be a big F-YOU to bill gates and i would sleep a lot easier.....hd-dvd should have used that money to run a 'BUY AN HD-DVD, GET AN HD-DVD PLAYER FREE' promo...LOL....i think it is very important for people to realize the difference between most hd-dvd supporters and blu-ray supporters....hd-dvd supporters want their format to succeed to feel like they stood behind something through thick and thin, and came out on top....and also so they dont have to buy a new player......on the other hand, blu-ray supporters want their format to succeed BECAUSE IT IS FAR SUPERIOR....we could care less about bragging rights, this is for the future of home entertainment...we have something special and feel it needs to touch everyone....honestly, i have no problem going out and spending $350 or whatever on a new hd-dvd player so i can see some movies ive been missing.....but im not going to....the idea of me owning a toshiba player and watching movies in vc-1 without lossless pcm in 2015 just makes me want to vomit...i wont be that guy!

i wonder what michael bay is gonna do when bad boys 1 and 2 come out exclusively on blu-ray and he isnt allowed to watch them - the way he flip flops, his blu-ray player is in the garbage and he has no clue whats really going on out here....he'll say OH WAIT ARE YOU SURE ITS ONLY BLU? WAIT, A STUDIO I ONCE DIRECTED A BIG MOVIE FOR THINKS THE OPPOSITE OF PARAMOUNT...HOW CAN THIS BE?....what a tool - michael...do we need to have dinner so i can give you high-def format lessons? i promise you can decide for yourself which is best...but oh yeah, paramount speaks for you

That is what I am talking about. I just pre ordered about 10 Blu-Rays for a total of around $300 dollars. Not to mention I just came home from Seamless Strip Club in Vegas and while I was receiving a lap dance from Sunshine (nice tits and ass) I asked her if she heard about Blu-Ray, she looked kind of clueless but I told her I will give her an extra $100 dollars if she promised to go home and order Spiderman 3 Trilogy Blu-Ray from Amazon.com. with the extra cash. She was very compliant and I think I baptized another Blu-Ray Pheen.
