Unfortunately, we all know this already. I think there is already a thread for it.

I know this will upset the Fantasia fans but it works for me, Dumbo was one of my favourite Disney movies as a small child and I will definitely get it on blu-ray. Glad to hear it semi-confirmed!

Dumbo was one of my favorite movies as a child, but I can't wait to hear the soundtrack to Fantasia (and Fantasia 2000) in lossless audio...

Since we haven't heard anything confirmed direct from Disney yet I still don't think FANTASIA is canceled... I still have hopes for a 2010 release- DUMBO may be coming out as the next release after Snow White ... they need to up the amount of releases per year on BLU anyhow so ... at least this is what I am hoping for.

Been waiting for FANTASIA since they gave out their planned list forever ago. Dumbo does not rank high on my list.. I will buy it but when you've been looking forward to FANTASIA for this long... it is gonna be a huge let down. Esp since 2010 will be the 70th Anniversary

I'm right there with you, buddy. I don't do the research on what is coming out when, but I want Fantasia so badly it's not even funny. It's one of the first movies — especially ones in the genre of animated films — that came to mind when I first started getting into Blu-ray.

What you want to hear is Kostal's modern recording for Fantasia, attempting to replicate Stoowski with digital techniques...it's referred to as Fantasia 1982, and no one has experienced it since the early 80's. Many are hoping the Blu-Ray will have a seamless branching option that allows people to choose the Stokowski or Kostal version. Man, if a 50 GB Disney Blu-Ray can't do that, what was the point in defeating HD-DVD in the first place?

Ernie?...

GIVE

IT

UP.

(Still, there's no DVD copy on the Dumbo, and no mention of a "new hi-def restoration", so it could just be a minor-league marketing up-port of the 2-disk from two years ago...
Maybe Disney's experimenting with non-Diamond animateds on Blu; there's been no announcement of Dumbo being added to the Platinum roster, although the earlier 2-disk seems to have been taken out of print...Hasn't seemed to have taken any valuable restoration time away from the, ahem, REAL FANTASIA THAT WALT OVERSAW PERSONALLY.)

*grumble* well this sucks. I thought for sure they'd release it for the 70th Anniversary. Oh well. I can still dream.

Too bad, I am still hoping for Fantasia in 2010 but if it's out I will wait. I will not be buying Dumbo however, not interested in that movie.

Fantasia can't possibly be outed by a Special Edition title. It's still coming.

The way I see it is we'll get Dumbo in February and Fantasia in March. Disney really have to speed up their releases a bit or we won't see them all until this format is obsolete.
I'm sure they can pull it of, ss long as the quality won't suffer...

From what i gathered dumbo is a special edition while Fantasia will still come out as part of the diamond collection

I took the news to mean besides the 2 Diamond/Platinum releases per year Disney would also sprinkle in 2 or 3 "special editons" of classic titles that don't fall into the diamond/platinum category

Or am i just suffering from wishful thinking?

Yeah, I'm still holding on to hope...if true that we get Fantasia and Dumbo, who would have ever thought that 4 of the 5 Golden Age features would be released on Blu-Ray within 12 months of each other?
