Animation series was incredible, one of the best I've seen in years. I am very scared about this movie because of the director

You and me both, his movies have had bigger and bigger letdowns IMO, he will receive a ton of backlash if this movie ends up being terrible.

Although I'm a bit worried that Shaymalan is involved, the fact that it's not a story of his own creation puts me at ease a bit... but not much.

I loved the anime series too. I just can't stand the fact that they handed the franchise to the wrong person to make a movie. Sure Shymalan's got some great films, but ever since The Happening, he's seems to be bit of a down low to direct this movie. Still, the trailer looks good, and if he has the right mind to screw with the fans with the next trailer, there's hell to pay.

He co wrote the script with the shows creators.

somewhat OVERKILL with all the Warships in that cove, but interesting trailer anyway. I have no idea about the backstory or the origins or what not, but the Next REAL trailer might give us more to go on; we hope.

The cartoon was epik to say the least, if done right definately could be a great trilogy but I have my doubts as to them executing this properly.

It doesn't matter. He is capable of crafting dialog, it's the stories of his that people hate.

There is absolutely no reason to hate this in advance. It would be one thing if he was creating a whole new story, if it was instead based on an original story that he came up with. Then you'd be right to be worried. But as it stands, him co-writing it doesn't make it automatically bad, nor does him directing it.

Seriously, do you people complaining about directors even understand what a director does? The ONLY reason one might have to complain about his involvement would be the fact that he has never done an action epic before, but I'm not going to get down on him about that. After all, look what the likes of Peter Jackson or Chris Nolan pulled off. Or would have thought that The Frighteners was a good lead-in for Lord of the Rings? Memento a good lead in for Batman?

Seems that his last stories have just been terrible and people think that because his stories were bad, the direction was bad too. No.

To me, everything after Signs sucked! I've been let down movie after movie by him and I'm getting a little fed up with it. Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice, shame on me! I'm an idiot because I've gone through The Village, Lady in the Water, & The Happening.

If this movie fails, you can only assume it will be the end of Shaymalan.

+100 I am amazed that the studios keep giving he a chance. He peaked right in the beggining of his career and has gone down hill ever since.
