Red face Disappointed with "300" HD quality

Hi all, I'm new here,

Yes I bought the movie today and I must say I got very disappointed with the High Definition quality. It was A LOT of screen noise (lots of easily visual small corns on the screen) even though I tried to set the Noise Reduction to maximum.

Is the movie supposed to be like this? With all the screen noise it didn't feel like 1080p with my Blu-ray PS3 and 40'' Full HDTV; it felt more like the scale was reduced to 720p or even less. Comparison to all other Blu-ray 1080p movies I got such as Kingdom of Heaven, Pirates of the Caribbean, Superman Returns, The Departed etc. all had much better HD quality with almost no screen noise.

Have I forgotten something with my screen setup or is the movie simply supposed to be like this? Any other here felt the same with this "300" movie?

In advance thanks for all the reply.

It's not noise. It's grain, and it was intentional.

I like grain. Ethanol, various cereals I enjoy, and most important: BEER!

P.S. I forgot Scotch.

It's intentional and it's a visual style that some people dig, others don't.

I'm not real big on it myself.

Grain is (the only way i can think of describing it) a sandy look. As if there were little bits of sand on the camera during filming. The Director or who ever did this on purpose for effect.

Thanks man for the explaining, so it's a visual style I wasn't aware of, cool but not a fan
