I am starting this as a new thread as I have not seen this asked before. Also, other DVE threads seem to be years old, so I do not want to ask there.
I have a Qualia 006 and a DVE HD Basics BR. I ran the color bars and looked thru the Blue filter. OK, I see a blue background and the 6 almost black Squares but nowhere can I see just what I am supposed to adjust. I mean, do the squares go away, is the background supposed to be as dark as the squares? I ask as the color adjustment on the Q006 only adjusts the amount of the color. Tint/hue is something else but I just seem to have a block on what I am looking for. TIA |

First you always start with the Contrast and Brightness, then Color and Hue. In the DVE BD it is well explained what to look for from the filter; you have to match as close as possible the squares indicated for the Color by instructions. Just take your time to read carefully the instructions in your screen, you'll get the hang of it. ![]() |

Not exactly sure what you mean. My DVE BD has 3 color filters Red, Green and Blue. Regardless, the point is to make sure that the color you are looking at through the filter is even (or uniform) across the screen. The black squares will still be there but the surrounding color should be even. I always have issues with the green filter. I can never seem to get it right but I can get the red and blue perfect. There is also an hour long program on how to calibrate. It's a bit techy but if you pay attention you can learn alot. I hope this helps.

Here are some useful links:
* @ http://www.ultimateavmag.com/testtools/308dve/ * @ http://www.videoessentials.com/program_notes2.php * @ http://www.videoessentials.com/dvehd...gram_final.pdf *** Also, it is a process where you go forth and back between Color & Hue (same with the Contrast & Brightness), to get things just right in the ball park (best possible compromise). Thank you so much. I did set contrast and brightness first. What I meant was that I looked thru the blue filter and saw the Squares. The Blue looked even. If that is good, then I am OK. I do notice that the Green is OK but I wish there was more of it! Anyway, the HUE on the Qualia is a little different to adjust. I will look at the links, too. Thank you!!
The Manual was a great help! Last edited by mpsan; 06-30-2010 at 04:35 AM. |
