![]() ![]() This is a bit of an older release, but just a heads up to anyone who buys it based on it being cheap (I paid £1.50 including delivery) - don't. Okay, it has a commentary with Rod Lurie not on the German release, but it is cropped to 1.78:1 (OAR is 2.40:1), and the transfer isn't too hot. Oh well. |

I enjoyed the film, so perhaps I'll double dip.
This isn't the first time Signature have hacked a transfer this much though. They did with The Heist starring Morgan Freeman, William H. Macy and Christopher Walken too. Not had any problems with any of their newer releases though, it seems to be down to their earlier discs. |

Hi! I just bought the 'Signature Entertainment' Blu-ray on eBay for a couple of quid. From the early scenes, I thought something was off, everything looked too damn tight. It's a great shame, because if it's wasn't for the zooming-in the picture quality would have been very good. Decent extras too with a commentary, deleted scenes and nearly 30 minute 'Behind the Scenes' feature (Which shows scenes in the correct ratio!).
Absolutely primitive and inept to be doing this in 2013 (When the BD was released). I may e-mail the company to find out how they could have messed this up so badly. I would have just rented it, if I knew the video was cropped. |

I've has this disc for about a year and watched it now. I found the picture quality very good but noticed in the deleted scenes that it was shot in scope ratio. I assumed that the director and cinematographer must have changed their mind and cropped it in post. I am now aghast to find out this was Signature's doing!
Ironically, however, I came in here to write not about this, but about another problem. For the most of the film's runtime, the rear right speaker is DEAD. I'm serious. About the three quarters of the way into the movie it suddenly occurred to me that every instance of surround activity had clearly come from the left only. I got up and put my ear up to the rear left speaker. It was fine. I then stuck my ear in the rear right, and nothing. Zilch. I went back to the opening assassination scene. Rear left is bursting with activity. Rear right might as well have been disconnected. I worried there was something wrong with my system. I tried the test tone, but all speakers worked fine. I then realised that at some very specific moments in the film the rear right speaker did produce sound, albeit briefly. Among those is the Battleplan Productions logo, and a scene at the end in which I could hear the faint sound of a vehicle. Over the end credits the music was blaring over all the speakers except the rear right. There's no way the sound mixers intended this! So, is this gaffe Signature's fault? Or does it trace back to the film's original sound mix, and may have even been present for its theatrical exhibition? (Gosh!!) |

Also still incredulous with the audio glitch. How can something like that happen? |

The German blu-ray is pretty low in the encode , Does it look good ? It may be out of print . Why no USA release on this ? Fandango at Home has it in HDX and it looks like its in the OAR , It's free but with commercials , Rather buy the German disc if its up to par .
