Default Sony BDP-BX1 Problem

This is my Blu-Ray player for my living room. It takes very long to load newer discs and sometimes won't even play some. It needs a firmware update, but the one offered on the Sony set only offers firmware updates for PCs. I only have Macs in my house and the player doesn't have a USB drive.

How do I update the player and where can I get the firmware update since I'm a Mac user?

you need to check Sony's website again-- you should be able to order a firmware disc from SONY at no charge for the update---

I had your model (Costco) and it was slow to load-- the player eventually died (and would not play TERMINATOR 2 skynet edition at all) I replaced it with the BDX2 and it's a much better model...

This is the page I get:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu...l=BDPBX1&LOC=3

Unfortunately, it doesn't say anything about a software disc being sent. Do I have to e-mail them or something?

I have the same drive and am upgrading the firmware hoping for a speed increase as it is painfully slow.

There are a couple things you can do. Either user this link to order the disks, or connect the player to work network and have it do a network update.

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu...=4959&os_id=49

Good luck.

After clicking on the link posted by Coreyva, scroll down to the How To Get the Firmware Update section and under the Request an Update Disc bullet there's a link called Click here to order the firmware update disc.

Thank you very much.

One more question. On the form it asks for the Product Serial Number, what exactly is that? Just the model number, or is there a serial number on my specific player that I need to get and where can I find it?

Please someone get to me about this as soon as you can. Thanks.

Should be on the back of the player.

It's the serial number of your player (it may not be a required field though?).

It didn't say anything about being required or not, for any of the information. I didn't put in information on the player and it went through.

Thanks everyone for the help! I really hope this makes the player quicker with the new releases.
