Default How can I improve the range of my router?

So I have a netgear router that where I used to live would work when I was downstaris from it just fine... now I moved and I sometimes can not even get 3 of 5 bars on the same floor no farther away than before. The only thing that has changed is we have 2 PCs hooked to it now.

On top of this my ITOUCH has issues finding the wi fi at times and my PC I have hooked to my TV is having the same issues now... watching a NF movie and having it cut every 30 minutes is ANNOYING... so what is everyone's advice?

Also usually when I log on with my laptop I can never go on my Netgear first, have to use the neighbors Linsys and then switch to NG 5 minutes later. Andif it wont connect at all I unplug it from the wall and then it will work.

Thanks everyone!

I'd get a new router. I have friends that had problems with that brand.

And did you have permission to access your neighbors network?

Extenze? This sounds like a personal problem.

lol, I joke, I joke. I've heard it is a brand thing.

Let's hear it for random strangers with linksys! Helping folks like us (I did it for an entire year once) get internet for free.

Linksys is probably the best brand in that price range, followed by Net Gear.

Sorry, not an expert. Maybe someone can help you out.

I've been using my Linksys G Router with Super Booster since 2003
So that means I never had to look for another one.

I would recommend one of these devices but I have no idea how they work and they're probably a bit much for you.

I've been using Linksys for many years too. I use a WRT610N and have been very pleased with it. Range Extenders work very well and I'd recommend them. Walk to the edge of your signal and then plug in an extender. It will pick-up the signal and transmit from there.

Keep in mind the higher you place your router and extenders, the better your signal. These signals are transmitted high in the air, not low to the ground. If you are plugging in a receiver into the back of your PC to catch the signal, it's best to have the receiver up high on a shelf or on an armoir.

Hmm might have to move the router here higher up then, thanks for the heads-up.

Yeah, surprisingly extenders seem to be more expensive than wireless cards or routers.

Actually wow I was wrong, some of these extenders are $25-40 not too bad, might want to read some customer reviews before picking one though.
