Default OT: Another ROUTER Question!@!

Sorry about all the OT questions about routers but what is protected mode under settings in the router? Should i leave this off or turn it on??

Also what is QoS Configuration? 802.11e QoS.. Should i set this to on or off?

For your first question, what router do you have? Linksys, Netgear, Buffalo, etc.

QoS, which is an acronym for Quality of Service, is optional. What options do you have when you turn it on? It would likely give bandwidth priority to certain applications, like VOIP or video.

If you are using the internet for phone, I recommend turning it on.

QoS - Quality of Service - it is a setting that gives bandwidth priority to an application (VOIP) and data assurance. Basically, it makes sure the data packets are complete and correct. Your phone call won't drop or cut in and out when you are online at the same time. If you use your broadband connection for your phone, turn this setting on.

Protected Mode - I am struggling to find any information on it. If anyone can find out more, have at it.
