Default Need advice on home theater set up

I am moving to a new house and would like to reorganize my home theater situation. Currently I have a "serviceable" receiver (Sony str-de 685) with no hdmi, very good sony subwoofer, and a ps3. I am also going to be getting a new tv. I don't need anything terribly fancy. I would like it to be good with both movies and music. Also, I don't have a "back wall" and it has vaulted ceilings in the living room. I mention that because I don't know how I would arrange the rear speakers. I am not opposed to HTiB's, nor am I opposed to sound bars. Basically I need something average or just above average. I would like to get new stuff and use the old stuff in the new game room. But I think I might like to use the PS3. And I probably would rather just go the HTiB route, but any advice would be great. Thanks...
