With the upcoming North American release of 2 fantastic gangster films, Once Upon a Time in America, and Mesrine, what is your favorite gangster film on Blu-Ray?

I enjoy almost all gangster films as much as the next, but my favorite would have to be Mesrine. Vincent Cassell was phenomenal as Jacques Mesrine.

I hate to say it, but HEAT isn't a "gangster" movie.

Well now I'm intrigued - I do not think I have ever seen Mesrine. I'm going to have to remedy that someday. I voted Godfather II.

Debatable. It is included in many lists of the greatest gangster films of all time. It certainly isn't a traditional gangster movie, but I thought it was certainly worthy of being included on the poll.

"Carlito's Way" takes the cake for me. It is such a good story.

Good runner-ups would be "The Untouchables," "Mesrine," and "The Goodfellas."

If you can, yes. Both parts tell the man's whole story.

Yea I agree but at the sametime for some reason I think it does belong on the poll so go figure.

Anyway my choice was Goodfellas. It beat out Carlito's Way & The Departed. Got Em!!

Donnie Brasco for me. Depp and Pacino were both on their A game with that one.

Yup! Mesrine is a two part movie. Definitely make sure you watch Mesrine: Killer Instinct first, that is part #1, and Public Enemy No. 1 is part #2.

Both part's do their best to tell the man's whole story...but as the movie introduction will tell you... "No film can faithfully reproduce the complexity of a human life. Each to his own point of view..."

for me Goodfellas and Casino are tied as my favorite gangster films (nobody does it like Marty) but since we are talking about blu-rays Casino blows Goodfellas away PQ/AQ wise so that gets my vote.

and yeah id have to agreee Heat isnt a gangster film. to me gangster is organized crime, Heat is just professional criminals. they arent part of an organization, its more of a heist movie.

I would have to say Goodfellas, American Gangster and Public Enemies! And you can't leave out Heat, probably the best street shoot out seen made

My favorite Gangster film on Blu-Ray? Well I own many of these movies but only 3 are on Blu-ray so my favorite on blu is The Departed. My overall favorite from the whole lot would have American Gangster, then Heat and Godfather trilogy - hell I like most of those on the list - Just not prepared to upgrade them all to blu...

This along with comedies is my favorite genre so after looking at that list I love almost every one of them. I probably watch Snatch/Layer Cake and the Departed more than any other though.

After much deliberation I went with Mesrine. There's some great movies to choose from.

Now, I know you can't have every gangster film on here but I'm rather surprised to find no trace of Public Enemies, Angels With Dirty Faces, or perhaps Brighton Rock.
