Default I hope that I am wrong about this...

It sure seems that this is what will kill the new High Definition formats or at least Blu-Ray. This is nothing but corruption and taking advantage of the public's ignorance worldwide. There was no excuse for there to be a format war since day one. If Blu-Ray can't get their shit together and get that DAMN point out then they will loose. There are too many companies and media falsely misleading the public whether on purpose or through ignorance. The responsibility lies on those who back Blu-Ray to inform the media and public why thier product should be the only one. There should not be a situation where the market dictates it in my opinion if one is better than the other. I don't mean in general capitalist ways what I mean is I believe that the superior format should be decided upon BEFORE this chaos reigns. Why in the hell is this happening?

You're not wrong about this. It's been on the way for a long time. I don't think it has support from any major Hollywood studios.

sounds like too little too late for me... I don't think anyone will be buying this "new" format.

Indonesia has adopted Blu-ray. No HD DVD has legally been produced here. If people does not care, why the distribution company dare to distribute BD in here (third world country)??

Wasnt there a couple more different format announced a while ago and they just kinda disappeared into the wind? Until they can get the major B&M stores to carry them, its not going to be a threat since majority of the public wont know about it.

O.k....maybe I'm over reacting here. I suppose my point is that if there were clearly one new format random other ones wouldn't be given any thought of having any chance but its just so frustrating for me. I have bought about two dozen d.v.d.s over the past seven years or so or what have you but I have known about Blu-Ray or what it was originally called as "Multi-layered Versatile Disc" or whatever it was since the year 2000. Therefor I have waited not on this current farce of a format war to start and end but I have waited on purchasing DVDs for God's SAKE! I think my decision is actually revealing on how the rest of the public feel on ONE new format mere less two and that is "Not again! Why?" I have spoken to my parents and they were like when they bought VHS they thought that was supose to be forever or a lifetime or at least LONGER than what it was. It wasn't that D.V.D. was a bad thing but the whole home video market is young people. Twenty five years is nothing in a lifespan mere less human history. People just aren't going to be willing to buy a whole new library every decade or two. I hope that this is known as TWO new formats are being shoved down the people's throats.

I truelly thought that Blu-Ray at least had a chance becoming the one format for video games, films, AND the music industry. Yet if that doesn't happen...I don't know why it shouldn't...it will have even less going for it than it potentially could to help it win as the one format.

Its all about getting the product out quick to maximize profit. Xbox had a year over the ps3 and no doubt helps its case for HD sales. It was a cheap alternative before bluray ever really made a name for itself.
