Am wondering what sort of quality it is.

I haven't got around to it yet. DVDActive have done a nice review. It's a similar treatment to what Leon had. I'm not 100% sure about messing around with the contrast if the end result is loss of detail. I'll always think about the missing information, "wasn't that cloud cloudier before?..." so I'm not a big fan but if it's what Luc Besson wanted, I'll guess it's up to him at then end of the day....

Any mods hovering that could combine this thread with The Fifth Element (1997)?

I prefer the Gaumont transfer, the US remastered edition image seems harsh due to all the edge enhancement.

Having the two different transfers puts me off buying it at the moment. I'll always think "maybe the other one was better?" I'll probably wait until it's a lot cheaper.

The US one from the captures looks to be very dull compared to the Gaumont one which to me looks overblown.

That review sounds very positive. I actually like the Boosted contrast In leon, think it suits the movie, so that being done again here isn't an instant put off for me.
