Default Are we prolonging this by shopping online?

As I was searching the world for Van Wilder this weekend, I realized that maybe if rather than buying from Amazon, we were buying from Best Buy, Circuit City, Target and others, we would get more exclusives. I keep finding that these stores don't even have all of the new releases. If we started spending the $1-5 more on a couple BDs, maybe these stores would carry more movies, and realize the supreme buying power of BD supporters.

Nah, it's all good. As long as you're buying from a legit retailer, that's all that matters.

I see your point. But, until they start selling their BDs at lower prices, I'm going to continue to buy online.

I actually think they are coming down. Black hawk down....$13.99 yesterday. Van Wilder...$24.99 Im a "I need it now" kind of guy, and the difference in price is less than adding next day shipping online.

I wont buy on eBay for my blu rays. I will buy on amazon though. I figure I will only buy movies from retailers in which they can monitor the sales. Thats just me though

I know what you mean. I try to buy at Fry's as much as I can. There were some awesome deals recently (Sony's $12.50, Warner's $13.99, etc.). Also, being sort of a fanatic when it comes to having to own a "perfect" product (no scratches on the case please!), I like being able to scrutinize the package before I pay for it.

By the way, from what I can surmise, BD's are more B&M oriented while HD DUD tend to be bought online. (Witness disparity between DVD Empire and Neilsen sales ratios.) I don't think it's anything conscious on people's mind, but it's fun to try to figure out why that is.

enjoy

Do you windex that adhesive crap off the cases too? I can't stand when those blasted stickers leave sticky stuff on the outside.

Nope, just dab the sticker I just removed repeatedly onto the case untill all the adhesive crap is gone. It may take a while (key is to use your fingernails to press the sticker on the glue on each iteration), but I've never failed to completely remove the residue.

It's become like a little hobby of mine recently. The sense of accomplishment when all the glue is gone is great, especially when there was so much crap to begin with. I'm almost disappointed that studios appear to going to only one sticker (on the top, which doesn't touch the transparent vinyl so it doesn't leave as much residue as the others).

yeah, i know i'm weird

Hehe, I feel your pain. When I get home from work on Friday I usually have a box waiting for me from Amazon. My ritual had become 1. Grab a cold beer from the fridge. 2. Open up my new BD's. and 3. Relax while removing all the gunk from the cases.

I miss that in a wierd sort of way. Whatever glue that Lionsgate has switched to comes right off now, and Sony only uses the one sticker at the top. We'll complain about anything LOL

I clean them till they sparkle too but lack your ritualistic methods. I'm not sure I have that level of patience.

I buy most of my BD's from Fry's because of their awesome prices and I also like to give them my support so they continue to stock and offer great prices on BD's. We have to show the B&Ms that Blu-ray needs more shelf space.

I know what you mean pal. Only no beer for me, I'm too serious about this to have alcohol possibly affect my performance.
