Whats the problem?

What else do you want for $200?

The Pio's offer good value for the money.

I just sold a used Denon for $305, this was a 2004 model... so I'd say your are getting a steal for a 2010 model.

Personally I would go for this one ($220):

* Mucho better for only $20 more than the Pioneer 520.

I second that...

LOTR, what about MCACC vs Audyssey

Well, you should know me by now no?

* About simplicity of life?

~ Nice equipment you have, can't complaint about that.
But if ever you have a chance, you should give a try to Audyssey MultEQ XT, and see what it does to your subs. ...Or even better, Audyssey MultEQ Pro.
...Or just wait for the new Audyssey MultEQ XT 32, from the newer Onkyos TX-NR3008 and TX-NR5008 receivers, this month! ...Or next month with the newer Denon AVR-4311CI receiver.
Also, the newer Onkyo pre/pro, the PR-SC5008P. ....And the newer higher end Integra pre/pros and receivers too (all with Audyssey MultEQ XT 32). ...And Audyssey DSX (with Front Width & Height channels).

- You'll never know till you try it in your own setup. ...And more to come, stay tuned!

I'll take a break on buying new receivers till at least 2 years... by that time the nice onkyo's be selling below $1000 and I can try them. For now I am happy with the set-up.

I do agree that I need more filters in the bass... that I do with the Behringer DSP-8024 manually to some extent...

Maybe I add NR-3008 later, and feed it's 5.1 inputs from the pre-outs of the VSX-33. If there is no noticable noise... I get both MCACC and Audyssy MULT EQ XT32

I owned an onkyo 308 (which is one step down from that 508) and I really liked the user friendliness of it. It was my first ever receiver (it came with the 3300 htib) but it had a bad hdmi port and the more I learned about HTs, I became aware that it didn't leave me room for future incremental upgrades. Returned it.

So next I bought a Pioneer vsx 820k, which is the next step up from the 520k you are looking at. I felt that the 820k didn't give me much if anything for the extra money over the 308 except the ability to plug in a powered sub. It said it had more wattage, but it was exaggerated greatly on the specs. To top it off, the pioneer was no where near as user friendly as the onkyo, and I found it a pain to set up, comparitively.

So I would say based on these choices, go for the onkyo 508, it is worth the extra 45 bucks over the pioneer.

Good luck.
