Default a2-300 strange hum, Help

Just got my a2 300 yesterday and have been playing around with the settings. I put my volume at about half way and my LPF all the way up. I put my phase at 0. After doing this I calibrated with audyssey. What concerns me is this low hum that is constantly coming from the sub. Has anyone else heard this? As i turn down the LPF and volume it goes away. Any suggestions?

Most likely it is a ground loop hum. These can be tricky to eliminate, and usually the source is a cable box (or equivalent satellite box).

Many people have had success using a 3-prong into 2-prong adapter. These can be picked up for a few bucks at your local Home Depot.

There's a sticky out there somewhere that talks about this problem, but I can't seem to locate it. I'll revise my post if I can find it. You could also PM Big Daddy, as he may be able to provide you with more help. In the meantime, I would try the 3-into-2 adapter and see if that solves your problem.

Edit: Still can't find the sticky, but read through THIS page on the eD sub owner's thread, where a couple of members were talking about the ground loop problem.

Edit 2: Found the sticky. Read through it here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/home-theat...isolators.html

Thanks for the sticky. Its very helpful. I swear that guy has a sticky for everything hometheater! but i still cant reduce the hum. There is no cable box connected to my reciever nor is there a pc connected. I also dont have the cables anywhere close to each other. I dont know what to do. Im beginning to think it may have somthing to do with the reciever im using.

Have you tried plugging it into a different outlet and see if it stills does it? Also, try the 3-prong into 2-prong adapter and see if that takes care of it. If not, call eD as they might be able to walk you through some other options.

if anyone was curious as to what the popping was i found out after speaking with someone in the eD tech department. It was the dust cap flapping. It was caused by a loose spot in the cone of the speaker. I dont know how that happened. but the good part is they are sending me some of their adhesive so i can re attach the loose part in the cone of the speaker. They offered to replace the speaker, but this seemed easier.
