I wonder if it is cut like the UK release?

Quote:
Note: The version of A Serbian Film included on the Blu-ray disc herein reviewed, courtesy of British distributors Revolver Entertainment, has undergone various cuts. As presented, the film runs at approximately 100 minutes. The fully uncut version of the film runs at approximately 104 minutes.

It might be the same as the US theatrical release, which IIRC is even more cut than the UK release.

I have the UK release, and I was surprised how much footage was left. Besides the "infamous scene", the cuts to the UK release were relatively minor.

Here's a list of cuts to the UK release (warning: some graphic screencaps here)....

It says 'unrated' on the package, so hopefully it will indeed be the full length 104 minute version.

The US theatrical version indeed did have more cuts than the UK release, and had a running time of 98 minutes. However, there was a VOD version on the net which was only cut down to 103 minutes, so this could possibly be the full version.

Where do you see uncut? I see unrated.

This one was released uncut in Norway but then someone decided to send us back to the stoneage.

Someone, who couldnt watch a movie and hold their dinner at the same time, reported it to our equivalent of the MPAA, and the film was banned for over the counter sales and pulled from stores.. then a story about the ban was in the news and now 'everyone' wants to see it
Glad to see its coming out in the us as the scandinavian release is proving difficult to obtain..

For the first time in a long time I'm conflicted as to whether I want to watch a movie. I love horror and disturbing movies, but when you hear many people you consider to be serious horror fans saying the wish they had never seen this it gives you pause. I'm also afraid if my wife found out I watched a movie that contains the content A Serbian Film does she would divorce me.

I've seen the Uncut version and the film was just trying too hard. I'm a longtime horror fan and unlike more intelligent hardcore fare like Cannibal Holocaust or Martyrs, the film was annoyingly unpleasant. In addition, it was too over the top to be taken seriously too obvious to be actually philosophically effective or interesting.

"A Serbian Film" is a delightful horror comedy on par with "Re-Animator".

That packaging is horrendous. And the fact that it says unrated as opposed to uncut is a bad sign. I'm guessing it'll have some cuts.

I've eMailed Invincible Pictures asking, but I fully expect the US Blu-ray to be the same version cut by about a minute that's available streaming. I don't like supporting censored releases, but if it's dirt cheap and has any worthwhile extras... eh, maybe? We'll see.

Wish I could find an online store that actually had the Norwegian release for sale. I can always add subtitles myself, but I can't restore footage that isn't there.

It's region locked though. And you won't find it in Norwegian stores anymore. However, seeing as Sweden/Finland/Denmark got the same release, you might have luck finding it there. But I heard most stores kind of self-censored themselves there too.

Amusingly, I snuck away a couple of Norwegian BD & DVD copies recently. A buddy's rental outlet was going to throw them out (no official warning had reached them, but they figured better safe than sorry), and I took all of them. Pretty mint condition too, doesn't seem anyone rented them. LOL. I'll figure out something fun to do with them, like sneak them into the local library's movie collection or something.

I am also looking for the Norwegian BD release. Anyone know where to find it?

I had a screener quite a while ago (the uncut version) and will rent this one on Netflix. Whether or not this is the uncut version, I won't be buying this. However, I definitely am looking forward to hearing what I hope is fantastic AQ.

I don't know why they would put on the cut version when it says Unrated on the cover. Also just because an unrated cut made its way to streaming while it was in limited release and I thought that was the full cut (please someone correct me if I'm wrong about that).

This film... the director probably wanted to do something different from everyone else, yet it's truly disgusting.

I won't even say one small example because some of you might never saw it and I don't want to spoil or anything. A baby's involved.

The Danish version was never released. The distributor postponed the release indefinitely because of all the trouble in Sweden. It's really annoying, since Denmark has no adult censorship whatsoever and Denmark is in fact the only country where it has been shown completely uncut theatrically without any following debate or controversy (the program director of the CPH: Pix festival which showed the film some months ago told me that he was in fact a bit disappointed that they had not received one single complaint).

As for self-censorship, the film received a lot of flak in Sweden after the BD and DVD were released. Though it is still perfectly legal to sell and own, a lot of retailers and e-tailers opted to pull it from their stock - some going so far as to publicly denounce the film on their homepages (even though the same shops apparently have no trouble in selling films like Cannibal Holocaust). A few webshops stood against the moral tide and maintained their customers right to choose for themselves. I bought my own copy from subdvd.com in Sweden, but unfortunately they have recently closed down their webshop to focus on their brick-and-mortar store.

Dang, are there any other sources for the Swedish BD?
