Default 11 11 11 (Horror Thriller with Biblical Overtones)

And it's being Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, director of Saw, I keep seeming to make threads for his movies, though I have no intrest in him.

Quote:
Darren Lynn Bousman, the director of several "Saw" movies, is partnering with producer Wayne Rice to take on the 11:11 phenomenon via a horror-tinged thriller titled "11 11 11" that will land in theaters on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011.

Yes, that's 11-11-11.

The 11:11 movement is centered on the emergence of that number in people's lives that alerts them to angels or spirit guardians trying to communicate with them. Conspiracy theorists also point to the number 11's involvement in historical events.

Rice, a producer on the more peppy "Valentine's Day" and "Dude, Where's My Car?" as well as "Suicide Kings," saw that 11-11-11 falls on a Friday and immediately wanted to have a movie open on that date.

During his search for a director, he met Bousman, who knew a thing or two about tapping into cult movements. Not only had Bousman directed three money-making installments of the "Saw" franchise, his "Repo: The Genetic Opera" had gone from failure to a cult hit. For the past couple of years, "Repo" has been on the midnight-screening circuit and attracting a crowd of devotees that show up in regalia who sing and scream the movie's dialogue, making it a "Rocky Horror Picture Show" for a new generation.

"He and I sat down and over some pasta, (and) the movie materialized," Rice said. "A lot of this has been New Age-y or biblical, with talk of angels. Leave it to Darren to see the dark side of that date."

Bousman was leery of not making a movie like "The Number 23," a Jim Carrey thriller that also tackled numerology but failed to make the numbers add up at the boxoffice. But then he began noticing the number 11's prominence in his life, including his birth date (Jan. 11, 1979).

Bousman, repped by Verve and Evolution Entertainment, is in the process of writing "11 11 11," which will take on the idea of 11 gates of Heaven and how on 11:11 on the 11th day of the 11th month, the 11th gate will open up and something from another world will enter the earthly realm for 49 minutes.

The intent is to make a movie that is not a gory like the "Saw" films but something akin to the sensibilities of "Signs" or "The Strangers."

"With 'Saw' and 'Repo,' my career has been about finding new ways to freak people out; that's what I want to do with this," Bousman said. 'We want to take this phenomenon and give it horrific purpose."

And take advantage of the date. The pair hopes to get the movie into production in the fall.

"This is a marketer's dream," said Rice, who is producing with Richard Heller. The pair are principals in Capacity Pictures, which made the indies "House Broken" and "Finding Amanda" and is financing "11:11:11."
