Default I can't make this stuff up...

You have got to read this. People are saying the release of the movie "Traffic" used a 480p master and the A-man is saying he doesn't think the studio should reissue it. Then he goes on a rant.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...4#post11495364

I just can't get over how ridiculous this is. Mods, feel free to delete this.

The response that misleading others is something everyone does so it's not an issue in a court of law is hilarious. I wonder if his bosses know of all the unchecked crap which will be used in a lawsuit someday. He's forgetting there is a real world ouside of the comfort of a forum.

When someone comes here and says people are acting childish or don't rub HD-DVDers noses in it remember posts like his.

Translation:

BD Live: Profile 2.0 spec for BDMV
RRT: Round robin testing

I have no idea what SGC PG3 means (If Sharp was supposed to host this round, it could stand for Sharp Green Club, and PG3 to the group managing this, 1, 1.1, 2.0 would be the third profile, so Profile Group 3)

Basically, all those makers with pending 2.0 players, and the authoring software creators, etc. get together to make sure everything is working. But, BD-Live is a future spec, not the one coming up (Profile 1.1). The whole message is intended to make you worry that a delay is occuring. I would think several rounds of BD Live testing will be needed.

Incidently, HD DVD doesn't need to do RRT because there are ZERO players out other than Toshiba that do interactivity. So, basically defacto spec *IS* the Toshiba implementation. It doesn't matter what the spec says, the content will have to be made to work with the Toshiba decks, and other players will have to duplicate the warts and mistakes.

I would think that HD DVD needs to figure out how to test a combo disc so a customer has a better than 85% chance of having it work 10 years after the form factor was created.

What??? The first T5E disc was passable at best, but the Traffic HD DVD, as well as the Spartacus HD DVD, for that matter, were outright abortions. Who is he kidding???

Oh, and I've read that Amir believes "Serenity" to be a perfect encode. I guess the macroblocking was put there on purpose, then.

^^^ Because, clearly, HD DVD people really don't give a damn.

HD DVD exists to slow Blu-ray, not to provide a top-notch product.

Although I haven't read A$$-Man's posts on the AVS Insider Thread in awhile, again I marvel at how he is able to make such flaming posts with impunity.
Maybe we need to start a thread discussing HOW and WHY AVS maintains their charade of impartiality between the formats...

So, I guess Traffic is their new experiment in combo-discs and reducing cost for HD-DVD players.

Just sell a DVD in a red box and call it an HD-DVD?

The player will upconvert it, and bam!

Paidgeek show a lot of class and integrity whenever he posted over there. And I think he did the right thing by removing himself from the snakepit there. Amir couldn't leave because that's where he can stroke his ego and spout the BS and FUD that he spouts. Unlike paidgeek, Amir shows absolutely no class over there.

Like all wars this Blu-ray - HD-DVD "war" will end. And the major players will look back on their activities with either pride or shame (assuming they're capable of feeling that). Paidgeek will be able to look back at ALL his postings and feel rightfully proud of his contributions. I don't think that Amir would be justified in having the same feelings.

It's the exact same thing with audio. He says that Dolby Digital + is the same as lossless and no one can hear the difference. That's the reason most titles on that format don't have lossless. What a joke!

I for one am very happy Sony, Disney, and Fox include lossless on EVERY title they release. The other studios use it hit-or-miss for now but I am very much looking forward to a future where every Blu-ray movie released has lossless audio in one form or another. It only makes sense to have superior video and audio. One without the other is only half the story.
