Default DVD Scratch Remover

Does anyone has experience with a DVD scratch remover? My kids have scratched up some of the Wii games by spinning them in the case. I have a couple game with circular scratches that make them lock up at times during play.

I saw a scratch remover at BlockBuster but wanted opinions.

Thanks,
Tom

Scratch removers just buff the discs, if the scratches are bad enough they won't do any good.

I bought this one at Wal-Mart for $20, and it works great on DVD's. Never tried it on a game though.

I use a scratch remover to buff off the scratches and then use a motorized cleaner to dry off the spray as well as possible.

I read some customer reviews, is it true about the thousands of tiny scratches after removing scratches?

Let me reask the question.

If you had a DVD that had trouble playing and used a scratch remover on it, did it help?

Let me re-answer the question. It's hit and miss, some DVDs are simply too damaged to play again even after going through the buffing machine and cleaning machine I use.

The first one I did really scared me. The disc almost looks "milky" or hazy. But they read perfectly. I used to get "damaged" DVD's from a friend who work at Block Buster and every one I got from her worked after going through this thing. The best description of it is you are sanding the disc. Basically taking a deep scratch and making it shallow, if that makes sense.

Thanks for the answers. I think it will be worth the $20 to get one. I don't care if the kids game don't play, but the Wii Resorts golf course C doesn't come up for me!!!!!

I have used scratch removers and disc cleaners from http://www.mapleshaderecords.com on some CD's and it worked great. I have brought a couple discs back to life.

I have NOT tried it on any DVD's, Blu's, or games, but I do not see why it would not work on them. however, like previously mentioned, any discs with deep enough scratches will not get fixed by some of these products.

Good luck!

I read toothpaste can work as a cheap fix - remember, wipe from the center out in a straight line

I've done the same thing with Pledge furniture polish. With light scratches anyway.
