Default DISNEY & SONY vs. PARAMOUNT & DREAMWORKS...

Hi guys and gals. Just found this online Domestic gross for Pirates-At worlds end and Spiderman 3 is totaling 644.5 million while Transformers and Shrek 3 have pulled in 629.7 million. BLU ray backed studios still ahead!! Just where I like em! (Winning)

That's not by much...

Doesn't bother me though
Pirates and Spiderman are the much better movies

I don't pay much attention to box office numbers. I think in terms of quality movies. I think Dreamworks has a terrific library of films, but it remains to be seen how many of those will end up on HD-DVD over the next 18 months.

I think its interesting how a week after going neutral they decide to release a great film like Old School on hd dvd. I would rather own it on blu, but I can't pass this up. Something tells me they might have been planning on going exclusive for a while, otherwise why would they have waited to announce that and Anchorman.

Every single person I asked and review I read said Shrek 3 was a big waste of time. One review said it has absolutely no reason to exist. I think the adult appeal of the movies was lost after the second (or first, depending on your preference), so I don't think Shrek 3 will be a smash on HD-DVD. Transformers will be big, but nothing compared to Pirates and Spiderman. Transformers, like 300, is a big Ps3-owner oriented movie, but we're not given that opportunity. I think Spiderman and Pirates will blow it away.

I agree, I watched the SD of BoG tonight, free rental from BB, and there was an awful lot of XBOX 360 advertisements within the movie.....hmmmm

That's exactly what I mean, Paramount had to be thinking about this for a while now, in other words they were probably offered this deal a while ago.

I'm still a huge Blu supporter, and we better win this war because I'm spending way to much freaking money on it, but the one reason I'm glad I have hd is for the bourne trilogy, no matter what way you swing it, its a great trilogy.

Default From the Digital Bits web site

"Speaking of Universal, and this is frustrating because we'd CONFIRMED it with the studio yesterday, but today they retracted it: Battlestar Galactica: Razor will NOT be released on HD-DVD on 12/4. The release is DVD only. The studio's press release had indicated HD-DVD and DVD, and we called the studio to confirm that for yesterday's post, but today they're saying DVD only. Sorry about that, folks."

To quote Nelson... HA, HA!

Old School? Anchorman? awwwwww maaaaaan. If I didn't have the first Pirates in my PS3 right now, I'd be out buying an HD-DVD player. Im utterly pissed about this. Those two movies are comedy genius in my demographic. Blu has to combat that with something more than Employee of the month.

Old School is the biggest MUST for me out of those two, but I loved anchorman as well, it was before Will went down hill......

Two things that have turned my frown halfway upside down.....Superbad will surely be day and date with the DVD....and....when the heck is Criterion going to put out gems like Royal Tennenbaums and Life Aquatic

Pirates and Spiderman have been on screens for 8 weeks longer than Transformers and Shrek.

Pirates sucked. Balls. A complete piece of shit. That needs emphasis, A Complete Piece Of Shit.
Spiderman was filler, junk drawing on the franchise.
Transformers was Michael Bay, typically navel deep.
I only have word of mouth on Shrek, and that word is crap.

Who gives two shits which studio(s) makes more money? How much of that will you see? The money that you give them doesn't count.

Winning? WINNING?

Winning? WINNING? What kind of stupid **** thinks like that?

Calm down dude. We would like to win this war. He has certainly named the 2 biggest films on both sides(Bourne should probably be brought up, though it is outside the paramaters of this arguement). We care about these things because if one "complete piece of shit" sells hundreds of thousands on its HD format, then it might sway a company....such as Universal....or New Line....to test the waters with a big movie on our format of choice.

I just want Gladiator. I don't really look at the numbers or sales. It doesn't really effect me. Do I buy more or buy less because of numbers? NO! So why would I care about numbers. I buy good films that I like personally. There are a shit load of films that I own that I like that have HORRID HORRIBLE NUMBERS. For instance BoonDock Saints or however you spell it with that guys Avatar. What's the BOX office number on that film?!?!? I belive it's zero, does that mean anything at all? Other then this movie is good and that it ROCKs.

Anyways I just want Gladiator right now, I think that's realistic.
