Default Final help me pic out a system thread!!!!!!!!

Need a receiver and speaker system for close to 3,000 dollars.

Room is 12 x 16 ish. /----------------| roof about 8 feet high.
100% movies and HDTV.

I live in Canada and ive done lots of research and still cant come to a good conclusion on whats good bang for the buck. I want a good sub and might be willing to raise budget a bit to receive this.

I dont listen to it cranked to the max but i do like a loud room when listening.

EDIT ewwwww at title. pick***

tried some stuff from the local places and it was mainly low end speakers. Was hoping energy take 5.1 would make me want to stay super cheap but it wasnt what i wanted.

Near by store had lots of audio products but i had never heard of any of them. Was pretty disappointed,

I live on Vancouver Island.

Whatever you decide, I would think bookshelves and multiple, quality subwoofers will be what you should go for.

How many channels do you plan on setting up for? 5, 7? Maybe more if you wanted to play with DSPs.

Have you looked at any brands yet, or have a buddy with a set up? Sometimes that can help you pinpoint where you'd like to be (or not be in some cases! )

I was hoping you'd say Vancouver itself and not Vancouver Island. If you are in Vanvouver anytime before purchasing, check out Hi Fi Centre on Seymour in the downtown core. They have some serious sh!t on display for testing.

Seriously dude. You go into Hi Fi Centre and you will feel bad only having $3,000 at your disposal for purchasing equipment.

But, it will give you a proper opportunity to hear some of the highest quality audio I've heard to date. And, they also sell more reasonably priced equipment as well.
