Default Signed on to do my part

Well I finally caved in the other day and gave in to the Hi-Def war and bought a PS3 and a 1080p LCD TV. I'm not much of a gamer anymore but it just made sense to get more for my money and buy the PS3. I also picked up Casino Royale just so I could watch a movie in Blu-Ray for the first time......

Wow! I was blown away at the quality of the movie (I use the HDMI cables too) so much that I immediately signed up for Netflix and began filling my que up with Blu-Ray movies. Although I am nervous about the war and praying that Blu-Ray wins out over HD-DVD so that I have not wasted my money, I want to help the Blu-Ray fight.

Is signing up for Netflix and renting about 30 Blu-Rays a month going to help at all? I can only afford to buy a couple movies a month but I don't want to get stuck with a library of obsolete movies if we loose the war. What is the best way for me to help out? I have already talked several people into going Blu-Ray......I better be right with all the propoganda I'm spreading

Oh an hello! First post! You'll see me around alot since I'm a bit of a forum junkie

Welcome to the forum. I think you signing up to Netflix and renting 30 movies is 30 more movies that wouldn't have been rented. Its good to have a new member on the forum supporting the format. Enjoy your new setup. See ya around...

Thanks! Does anyone know the future of the Lord of the Rings trilogy yet? I heard that it was to be released on both formats in November but the BR was getting the extended version and HDDVD was only getting the theatrical version. Is this true? This is a big one for me

Welcome to Blu and welcome to the forums.
According to VG Charts.com, the number is at almost 2m (1.87m). Of course how accurate they are no one knows.

Totally addicting. I signed up almost exactly 2 weeks ago. In that time I went from 1 BD movie to 18 because of all the tips on sales, but then I've hardly watched any of the movies cause I keep hitting the freakin' refresh button.

Welcome! If you want to really help the fight, the best thing to do is educate yourself on why Blu is better then HD-DuD. With that info, bring all your friends and family over and show them your blu setup. They will see the Blu-Light! Make sure to educate them. The biggest problem out there is misinformation on HD info.

Well, was just listening to the Twit Podcast and they said that the Ps 3 just sold 159,000 sku's this month.. not too shabby considering we're still wating for the fall line up to hit. Wait until near christmas.. one thing Sony does better than anyone.. they can Market the crap outta anything. By the time 2008 gets here expect to see at least another 1.2 million in U.S homes..
