Default A lil upset at fox....

Sorry I couldnt find a thread on this so merge if you need to.

I'm a big Blu ray supporter, only reason I have hd is for a few things such as hot fuzz and bourne, but in the long run I want to see Blu win, as many of you here know of me already.

But is it just me or are you other supporters out here upset with the kind of dry releases that fox announced. I mean theres some good ones, Idependence Day, 28 days/weeks later, Die Hard, but I mean cmon....wheres the big guns like the Alien trilogy, yes I know theres more than 3 but resurrection doesnt count on fact it sucked horribly, Fight Club, Highlander, just a small gripe but still.

I won't disagree though, fox announcing what they did helped make up for Paramount selling out.

For being out of the game for awhile, I was surprised with the quantity and (for the most part) quality they came back with. I was REALLY surprised to see the Die Hards announced (even though with LFODH coming out it would be logical, but since when was anybody logical?), and that'll keep me pacified for awhile. Give it time, and hopefully Fox will follow up their comeback with a constant stream of quality releases.

Hopefully, yes I also agree that Die Hard will keep me busy, but some more titles for early next year, such as Fight Club, would be greatly welcomed.

I, Robot and Pathfinder I'll give to you, but Cast Away is an amazing film. The sound will be just fantastic and hopefully the picture quality will be too.

I know how everyone feels. I feel the same way as well, but I DO remember how slow it was for the studios to make the transition from VHS to DVD. I think HD video is progressing at a better rate than before. The only difference is that DVD was the only game in town to get on board with. Now we have two formats to struggle with. The anouncment of FOX titles is excellent, especially being blu only. They obviously had this in the works with the titles and sell dates already pre-selected. This is only the beginning and I fully expect to see the big guns come out shootin with carefully planned execution taking full advantage of the 50GB that will blow us all away in the very near future!

Until I read that Old School and Anchorman were coming to HD-DuD....I thought this was a silly thread. Now I really am waiting for someone to put something out that I honestly say...."my life is incomplete without owning that fantastic film."

FOX announced a GREAT slate of new releases. The only resentment I have toward them is the fact that it took the Paramount/Dreamworks announcement to get them to publicly reinforce their committment to Blu-Ray. Until now they have been dragging their feet announcing new titles.

i think you should give it some time. Fox will release the titles you want on blu-ray, if not soon then later. IT IS INEVITABLE. for now i am just glad Fox is back on the team. SO just give them some time...

I have taken this Paramount thing as a grain of salt until right now. I was only thinking of the future....and had not looked into the past. They have a mighty fine library of films....Dreamworks casts a mighty shadow. Great great movies. I then asked myself....what dvds....do I need in blu....that are able to currently....I left myself with Man On Fire, X-2, Resident Evil 1, V for Vendetta, and then questions like....how long on Criterion....and New Line. Why can't Sony get on New Line...get Wedding Crashers(i need something to counter Old School/Anchorman)....and can we have tentative dates on LOTR....because most of us NEED that....

Yeah....everyone is worried about calling and mailing Paramount? Its done fellas(and ladies if yer out there ), but why arent we thinking of a way to attract New Line. Cant we pool together $150 Mil? New Line has a library that would sooth the burn that Dreamworks has left.

I need Universal to switch by the end of next year because Lock, Stock, Shaun of the Dead and The Big Lemboski are 3 of my top 5 movies. And yes Sony needs to bring me Snatch ASAP.
