3D is all the rage right now with Avatar, Alice In Wonderland and Clash Of The Titans, but while I can see certain titles using it, is it the next logical step forward like VHS->DVD->Blu-Ray or will it cater to a specific niche market like how SACD's and DVD-Audio (and not Blu-Audio) never really did anything to the CD. I just upgraded to Blu recently and I'm still in the process of building the collection, and I feel like with Blu-Ray and HDTV's, these will be hopefully the last times I'll ever have to buy movies like Halloween, Aliens, Blade Runner, Sound Of Music and Back To The Future (all of which go back to VHS here) and are the absolute definitive versions to own and keep but now I'm hearing about 3DTV. I can see it doing well with sports and some movies, but is it going to render Blu-Ray into a dated format like DVD's have become? I am so satisfied with the Blu's I've gotten so far and really feel like this is as good as home video should get and would like it to be the "normal" format in the future for a very long time like CD's are for music, and with music it's inferior mp3 versions that have given it a run for its moment, not superior audiophile formats like SACD, DVD-Audio and BluRay-Audio.
