HELP Satellite Placement

I moved into a new house a few months back and have been struggling with satellite placement, and I'm tired of not having my surrounds that I paid good money for! Hoping some of you experts can help. In the attached photos I marked the locations I'm thinking about. The left surround is easy enough but the pillar on the right is causing me headaches. Should I mount it on the pillar, on the ceiling, kind of behind the pillar on the other side of the stairs, or somewhere else? Part of the problem I'm having is I am going to run the speaker wire inside the wall and the pillar is solid so I will have the wall plate with the binding post on the wall above the stairs (just above the living room ceiling) not on the pillar itself. The room itself is adjacent to the kitchen. It is ~15.5 ft wide, ~9 ft from the front wall to the couch and ~16 ft total front to back. I can take more photos or describe what I'm trying to do if it helps.

Help me make up my mind so I can put them up already!
