Default Visit to DeVore Fidelity Speakers (Monkeyhaus) pics

First of all, before I go further. I would like to thank John DeVore for being a gracious host, and being super hospitable. He truly is a class act.

His site - http://www.devorefidelity.com/

Anyway, he hosts listening parties at his factory called "Monkeyhaus". It's basically a party where you come out to chill, drink, grub, talk with like minded folks and listen to music. No digital here. Vinyl & tubes only folks. We had a blast.

Before I start with the pics, check out these links of past Monkeyhaus events to get an idea about what it is.

Entrance

You walk into the listening room & there is a poster of Miles. You realize that, yes - you're in the right place. These cats know what's up!

The speakers on deck were a prototype called the "Orangutans". They will retail for around $7,500.

Misc. amps laying around - Audio Research, Parasound - forgot the tube amp.

Shindo preamp

Orangutans up close.

The amps, phonostage, TT etc were in a different room. They moved it out due to interference/bad feedback.

Yes indeed, that is a Garrard 301 turntable you're looking at!

Hmmm? The design reminds me of the Audio Note AN/J speakers (Snell J) except that the baffel is a little wider. These are interesting

These are the flagship "Silverbacks". Looked gorgeous. Retails for $16,500.

Many records were played - including tons of 78s. Here we have an original pressing of The Shape of Jazz to Come by Ornette Coleman. It's signed!

Ghana highlife music - Ebo Taylor

More afrobeat/highlife - The Kusum Beat (good luck finding this one!!)

Andthe big daddy - An original promo copy of Kind of Blue. Let me tell you, this record might be 50 years old, but it was incredible. I have so many iterations of this album, the only one that compares is the 45rpm Classic Records version.

These guys are very interesting!!! Several pieces of Audio Note gear, the Orangutans look like AN/J's, the coaxial speaker reminds me of a Thiel design, and another one looks like a Proac design. Well great men pick other great men's brains !!!! Looks like this company is on to something.

Did you get a chance to listen to The Nines? I am in the market for new speakers and I am considering the Nines and possibly the gibbon Super 8.

Thanks

Joe

Thanks for sharing your great experience with us Atane!

I was drooling the whole time on those Shindo Pres and amps. I want one of each when I grow up
