Australia Resident Evil (Finally!) -Jan 10, 2013

Noticed this on JB Hi-Fi's website.

https://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/...blu-ray/678066

Also, a Blu-ray set with all five current movies exclusive to JB.

https://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/...blu-ray/677742

That's asking for a lot though, considering these films often go for $10 a pop locally. (Other than the first not being available locally)

Default Spoiler alert

I don't think any real collector should get the JB exclusive.Because of the way "Retribution"
[Show spoiler] ended.
[Show spoiler]There's going to be a 6th movie in the franchise.

Is a 5 movie set considered a trilogy? Or are three of the 5 exclusive to JB?

I guess you can only smile, imagining their faces when they storm into "such and such" and they *don't* have it!

Only when it's written by Douglas Adams.

I spoke to Sony today and they said they only have the rights for this on Blu-ray. Disney still has the rights for the DVD version.

The most important thing for me is finding out if RE: Apocalypse got a new AVC encode. Does anyone have that information?

Also what's the soudtrack option for it?

The 5 movie collection is $47.98 at the moment. Though dispite that I have to disagree with your comment, because even at $68 it's still a decent price, when you consider that Resident Evil Retribution is a new release and is currently selling locally for between $24-$30 on it's own.

Anybody know what's happened to this title? Can't find it in stores and the title seems to be taken off the site.

It is now out of print. It was a really small run released in conjunction with Resident Evil 5. The only way to get the original now is in the 5 pack set.

It is a rights issue as the original film rights are held by Hollywood Pictures (Walt Disney) here in Australia. They got permission to release it, but the rights for the individual release reverted back.

I am pretty sure we still have some floating around down this way... I can check tomorrow if you are after one?

Shame, was hoping to support it locally and pick it up via the 2 for $20 deal on at the moment.

Would be fantastic if you could check for me. Checked all the major stores around my area and none of them carry it.

It's interesting that the cover has a Universal logo on it?! Is this actually the same disc that came to Australia?

Thanks for the heads up. Might go with Amazon if I can't find one locally though, as it's cheaper.

Yes it is the Australian release. Also, the site says the cover art shown is not the final version that was used. Universal has merged with Sony Home Entertainment, who releases the other movies.

You'll be fine.

Just a heads up that it will come with a NZ ratings logo sticker. Despite Mighty Ape having an AU site they still ship the same NZ stock.
